Not sure if it's a suggestion for something or if there's something in the game, but as far as I can tell there's only one "port" in the game with anything near functionality (Maintalbahn I think? With the moving crane that doesn't actually load anything, just back and forth?) What about a route with a shipping port, some shunting around it, running to a bigger rail yard, and then on to another city/location? There was a I think a Swiss or Austrian route that again had some shunting areas that weren't used in it too at one end. Was running around Derail Valley around the Harbor and thought it'd be neat to see that sort of thing in TSW. For an island nation, UK must have quite a few ports, and Germany has a lot of river ports. The USA has tons of ports. Yet nothing really usable in game, despite several modeling the "port" but it's not reachable or not usable. There's a neat route in TSC that's from London to Felixstowe. Has all the fun commuter operations out to the suburbs from London (good chance to link in some passenger service and route hop to London) but also heads all the way out to Felixstowe where that huge port is. Tons of ability to move freight around, and it gives it somewhere to go, not just "moved it 3 tracks over." It's the shunting AND the moving into London (or wherever) It wouldn't have to be a 1:1, but given that one already exists as a baseline and could be added to or used as a template, it shows what would be needed to make it work and something to compare to. I can only go by what I've seen in TSC for the route, not being familiar with it irl, but it does seem to get both freight and passenger involved with a variety of traction. Yes the freight stuff is pretty much the 66 or 37, but you could always use the 86 in there since it's electrified and there's quite a bit of commuter stock you could add. Again, not a connoisseur of EMUs/DMUs but I think there's a variety there. Lots of the 300 series (maybe people more familiar with the UK in that area could help out with what would be appropriate or desired? I tend to just like the freight part of it and scenarios, there's a ton in community and from Alan Thompson) I think it just comes with one EMU, but there could be more added. There's a loop at the end, some short branches, It starts at Liverpool station I think which would be cool, and quite a few landmarks along the way. What does the community think? Would it be worth pursuing? What would you like to see?
Ok, guess this has been suggested before. More the focus on the passenger side of the house and different eras though. I think the freight side of the house and port are something different to add that would set it apart. As to era.... I think modern would sell better, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to compromise with say early 2000s? Some of the older stuff wouldn't be out of place, but the newer stuff is there too?
