So, if you've been trying to work with materials or something else, and have been encountering a CTD with the following error: I may have a fix for you. The issue seems to stem from Windows' Full Screen Optimization. Start Menu > Type in "regedit" and hit Enter In Registry Editor, navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm" (you can just copy and paste that address into path bar on top. Create a new DWORD value, name it "OverlayTestMode" (no quotes), leave base as Hexadecimal, and enter a value of 5. Hit OK. I would also disable Fullscreen Optimizations for TrainSimWorldPublicEditor.exe. (Right-click on the .exe > Properties > Disable fullscreen optimizations Supposedly, this can have some side effects with Windows "Fullscreen Optimization", but that's always been kind of bad, and I personally haven't seen any. This is a fix that was initially posted by nVidia, and it supposedly fixed some stuff with 240hz monitors, and getting "gray screens". Let me know if it works for you. Happy modding.
