I read today that Labour, if they win the next election, is considering re-nationalising Britain’s railways. I wonder how this will affect licencing for TSW going forward.

Hopefully a blanket licence can be obtained, especially if livery designs are standardised which would make it easier for new routes and trains to be developed. Is this how it works in Germany?

Alternatively, I suppose the Government could turn round and say No.

Probably aimed at vote gaining, once the election is over it will probably be dropped.

I believe more to Santa Claus being real than any politician. As said above by AtherianKing, elections are coming and after that, gone, dropped like it was never mentioned before.

When they were in power from 1997 to 2010 they did nothing to renationalise any of the utilities or organisations that had previously been privatised under the Tories.

So while I have no love for the Conservatives, anyone who thinks Labour are going to come in like a shining knight on horseback and restore a land of milk and honey, should probably lower their expectations.

Which is probably enough politics for this forum and me... :)

They ain't going to stick to it, they're just trying to get political points.

As for licensing, I don't think it will affect TSW in any major way (although it could possibly lead to more TOCs in game).

I doubt it would affect licensing much if it did happen, DTG would still need to approach and get approval from the owners not the DFT

best it could do is probably effect train access, how willing are the DFT to allow access over companies.

The only part of Labour that has and will bother is Welsh Labour - with TfW.

It's point scoring and I wouldn't trust a word they say.
