I can't wait for steam, I'm really excited about this new route.
What do you think the commands on our controller will look like?
I hope the arrows will be used more to control the reverser rather than continuing to press square to switch functions like the brakes, or worse using X for everything.
How do you think they will be?

Because there are no safety systems to acknowledge on this route, i think the current buttons for safety systems will be remapped and the rest of the controls will probably be manual.

But that would mean that any future GWR locos (fitted with ATC) would need a different set of controls to these locos. The same issue would affect preserved locos which have been retro-fitted with safety systems, should any be produced.

If you mean the arrows on the D pad they already control the reverser fir forward and reverse.

Why don't we actually wait and see. Then we will all know. Steam is going to be an exciting addition to the TSW franchise and being more of a diesel / electric fan I am looking forward to giving them ago but to be honest i'll be more interested in running a green 37 between Liverpool and Crewe or a 47 :). Obviously it wont stop me from running the kettles on the route. but yeah I think I can contain my excitement besides its going to be months before we get to give them a run.

Makes sense that the reverser will be mapped to the up and down d-pad buttons

sure at the moment they are just speculations .... but they are a good way to pass the time :););)

And what about triangle? Do you think it can be remapped? On a steam loco, specially with manual fireman there is no position where you can do everything...

Oh right I forgot the get in/climb function.... I don't think how you can have a single position for steam such as a cab seat on a diesel electric train..... but climb up is another story.
nevermind we will see. thanks for the answer guys!
