Just arriving at Lancaster on a 4 car blue class 142 when I bought up the map, and the game froze. I had to re-start it. Not sure the route ID but it was the midday service from Carnforth-Preston.
I have this same issue but it's not isolated to Preston Carlisle and there is a solution (assuming you have the same issue as me). What fixes it for me when it freezes, is to press the square button, which toggles the labels. Press it once, then press the centre pad or circle to get out.
I too have experienced this on XBOX S. My solution was to turn the controller off and on. Next time it happens I'll try toggling the labels.
Series S same problem. Sometimes toggling the labels etc unfreezes it but not always. Irritating when you're in free roam using the map to fast travel or checking AI services etc. Also fairly certain that using the map frequently causes the custom weather presets to default to clear skies. I've had it where it's been set to light clouds, went into the map to check something, came back and the clouds have gone.
