Hi, i just bought the dlc but i cant drive the dmu due to the screaming noise in the cab. im going through the tutorial but its never mentioned...thank you
Sounds like you aren't setting the gears properly. The Tutorial does teach you how to change gears properly.
It could be the AWS, if you are on PC try pressing Q It could also be the handbrake, if it isn't in the fully released position the guard buzzer will continually sound until you release it. Check both cabs and turn each handbrake wheel until they won't turn any more.
it says dont worry about the alarm as it will turn off when youve sorted the brakes but its on all the time
There are some good videos on YouTube on the class 101 its quite a complex train to drive with gear system
I believe this might be a bug... The engine warning I think (it was a while ago so can't remember fully) would go off no matter what during the tutorial. I had the same problem, no matter the correct procedure or resetting physics it made that noise. Once in a regular service it worked perfectly though.
Yeah I vaguely recall this too. Try doing a 101 service on the route itself. There is a manual that Just Trains produced with the route that briefly introduces each loco but the YouTube video tutorials from the DTG ambassadors are good for going into finer points like safety systems and how to drive.
The point is, the DMU services are a very small section of what this route has to offer. The main course is the Class 87. If you are really not happy, then Steam allows you to request a refund so long as you have not played the main game (not the route itself) more than two hours since purchase. But I would suggest you persevere as, while it's not 100% perfect, this is without a doubt the best UK route for TSW so far.
I think its a route worth having regardless of an issue with one DMU. Personally, and I know its not something everybody will do, but I just enjoy hammering a 142 at full speed for an hour and this route allows me to do that with ease.
Train Sim World never has, and never will be "fully functionable". You can always spot the new players a mile away.
Something's not right here. I'm on PC and I've driven the 101 all over TSW without issue. The OP must be setting the train up incorrectly in some way. I haven't used the training mode for this loco because I've been driving it since NTP and TVL released. But it's really a straightforward loco to drive, even with the manual gearbox, which, to me, is a big part of the fun of driving this dmu.
JT did make some changes to the version for Shap. Notably you have to faff about with switches under the secondman side seat to set the cab up.
