Hello, I have the game from steam. When open game settings I see this run on high settings with dynamic lights on in this settings all is ok . When I change them to higher (max) with dynamic lights I have a problem with the graphics in the cabin some atypical shadows appear with all the vehicles. When I turn off dynamic lights the game becomes very ugly like the low quality. I changed the settings in the Nvidia panel but it didn't help. This is strange because with TSW4 even TSW5 I have no problems with the settings and they work fine. My notebook is with Nvidia gtx 1060 with 6 GB RAM , CPU is Intel I5-8750H 2.2 to 4.1 GHz and Have 16 GB RAM . I send photo with blue marks with the problem.
That's the SSAO (Ambient Occlusion) option which can help improve "flat" texturing. On models with already baked in AO, it can look off. Toggle it via Game Settings or cycle using CTRL+Shift+F2 ingame.
Probably related but my favorite effect is that passing trees to the left of my train will momentarily darken the inside-left of my cab, in the same way. The issue with OP's picture isn't really AO being baked in but the really low resolution of the shadows - and it being aggressive. (Outlining is also very aggressive by now. Usually nice and helpful to add depth to places like couplers.) It's similar to the "night glow" (forgot its name) which could be realistic except it's calculated in really big squares. (I recall there was a config patch for that one specifically.) Both cases might be down to optimisation. A lot of games have sliders for these settings for people with supercomputers and toasters.
No that's no shadows. As explained, it the highest SSAO post process setting, which can be cycled through Off and three stages with Ctrl+Shift+F2. Demo (Off-1-2) As you can see in the first shot, the corners already have nicely baked shadows (I think Reppo did the model).
Got you, I meant that the trees darkening the inside of my cab are probably also ambient occlusion, however funny. Super easy to observe, just drive in an alleyway (of trees) and the edge of the cab is going to display slight dark blobs where a tree would be outside. It would, possibly, affect windows, since the ambient lights are blocked from the direction of the tree.
