Hello! This is my first post in the forum. Please bear with me.

As I was playing the Long Island Railroad and The Harlem Line, I thought the Washington DC Metro would be a great addition to Train Sim and could help increase recognition for a metro system that is a little overlooked. The system would be a mix of at-grade, elevated, and underground running, throughout the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. This would be a great experience for all players in Train Sim due to the elevation changes, automatic train functions and the overall beauty of the area. This would also be fun because during the underground sections in the city, the stations aren’t far apart keeping players on their toes and providing an immersive experience. The brutalist architecture of the system would be really cool and have a good look in the game.

There are six lines in total:

    Red (Glenmont-Shady Grove) (27 stations)

    Green (Greenbelt-Branch Ave) (21 stations)

Yellow (Mt Vernon Sq-Huntington) (27 stations)

Blue (Downtown Largo-Franconia Springfield) (28 stations)

    Orange (New Carrolton-Vienna/Fairfax) (26 stations)

    Silver (Downtown Largo-Ashburn) (34 stations)

The Blue and Silver lines have the same eastern terminus and run together from Downtown Largo to Stadium Armory where they join the orange and run throughout the city, underground, until the blue separates from the orange and silver lines at Rosslyn and continues south to join the yellow line at Pentagon. The orange and silver lines continue until East Falls Church where the orange line continues to Vienna/Fairfax, and the silver line continues to Ashburn. The green and yellow lines join at the northern terminus of the yellow line at Mt. Vernon Square and they separate at L’Enfant Plaza and the yellow line joins the blue line at Pentagon as previously mentioned. Those are just some of the joint running that happens throughout the system. There are maintenance and storage yards at or near the end of each line.

Although one big expansion DLC would be amazing, I know it would be more realistic that each line would be added one at a time. After some time, one large DLC could allow all lines to interact with each other.

    Specs to the system

Powered by electrification via a third rail
    Track Gauge: 4ft 8 ¼
Rolling stock: Kawasaki 7000 series and the older 6000 and 3000 series

This would be fun to play doing commuter services and moving trains from different locations to be brought into service.
