On PS4 I’m getting between 35 - 45 fps depending on DLC. On high end PC they talk about 60ish. What is a acceptable ball park figure for PS4 and is there something I can do to get better performance??
Don't focus too much on frame rate numbers. It's how it looks and plays for you that matters. Anything over 24-25 fps can look fine, especially for a train simulator. I have an older PC and average about 40-45 fps and have no complaints. I suppose a high frame rate might enhance an FPS type game, but, since I've never played one, I couldn't say.
Personally I think frame rate is less important than frame rate consistency. If you can get a steady 35 FPS that's probably ok, but if you have lots of FPS dips and stuttering (as we often do) then it's an immersion killer.
On a game with slow moving vehicles that frame rate is fine though a better frame rate would be nice. I used to fly on a sim years ago at 12-15 fps but because I was so far up in the air it didn't matter. Even with fast trains my frame rate seems to be adequate, but I do wish the game could be optimized a little better. OG Playstation with every DLC installed except the last three loco's.
