I found it quite interesting what actually is in the game, albeit in places you would not look for. I noticed this with TSW4 and TSW5 where you can start the game without everything being downloaded. During that phase, there are differences to the situation when the game is fully downloaded and installed.

    For example:

On ECML, you can actually drive the 700 and it also appears as AI on PS4.

On WCML South, you can actually drive the 377 and it also appears as AI on PS4.

On MML, the strange graphical glitch on the EMT HST livery (only showing a triangle instead of a rectangle) is gone.

My interpretation is that, during the download phase, you get some original version of the DLC layers, without any subsequent patches or updates. If my assumption is correct, then some of the stuff I am moaning about (no 700 on ECML, no 377 or other on WCML) have been introduced into the game as part of its updating process.

To be fair, it is not all perfect and nice, so it is not a solution to just partially download the game and the unplug your network connection. For example, the 158 layer on ECML is missing.

To me, it just shows that maybe DTG or Skyhook or whoever created a DLC had high goals in the beginning and then had to back down in the process, possibly for performance reasons.

Have you found similar stuff? What are your thoughts on this?

On PS4 the originally certified version of the content is on the DLC download, and then every change we make to it from that point through to release (and after) is a patch added to core, as PS4 does not have the capability to allow devs to update or patch the DLC files directly (i have no idea who thought that was a good idea :) ).

And yes, we always aim high and then lower scope to try and get the best we can in the game. If we aimed low - we'd hit low, every time, because once you hit low, it's much harder to then go and try adding more things in again.

    Matt.

Thanks, Matt. As I wrote, I just found it interesting to note. No negative connotation here. Gen8 is what it is.
