I’ve posted before about how I find TSW a little on the dark side compared to real life. Especially on some of the TSW2 era routes. Since the game has no brightness options, my solution was to use my TV settings and increase gamma to the point that I like the look. I’m playing on a 4K HDR Sony TV. Here is another thing I’ve learned which may help PS5 users who also find the game dark: PS5 supports HDR gaming. In fact, by default it forces all games into an HDR mode, even games not built for HDR. Originally that was a setting that can’t be changed. Now you have 3 options in your video settings: HDR always on HDR off HDR on when supported They work basically as described. By default it’s likely always on, so all games will play in HDR mode. Off turns it off for all games. On when supported means games built for HDR will be in HDR and others won’t. Some SDR games actually look better when forced into HDR so I’ve always had it on. TSW was not built for HDR. I decided to try turning off HDR on my console to see how it looks compared to default mode. Well sure enough, when HDR is on “off” or “on when supported” it launches in SDR and actually looks brighter/better. So worth a look for PS5 users that want to brighten the game a bit.
