This is weird ... between Finnentrop and Hagen the 3 views do not mach: ESC shows me not yet at the town i just passed ( per my driver view and the 9 key map ) and the ESC + right MAP shows me not yet there either ! Hope this is just an oddity for this BR187 heavy freight or for just this route and only PS5 ....
The map that you are accessing through the Pause menu is only a schematic. The track distances are not necessarily proportional so it only marks the station that's closest to you. Only the ingame map shows your actual GPS position. This is a technical limitation, else the game would only need one map.
within 5 km of Hagen the maps are back in sync: ESC, Map option and my view and 9 ... the view from simple ESC shows nothing meaningful at this moment ... it s having the PS5 ESC menu "MAP" option out of sync with the in cab "9" map that i don't recall seeing out of sync on either TSW4 Steam or XBox ...
As said, the Pause map is only updated in discrete steps because the distances may not be proportional. Same on every platform.
