I wanted to make this forum regarding PTC because I feel like PTC is possible if its very dumbed down. At its fundamentals it consists of a couple items. Speed protection, Max Speed Protection, Milepost display, Gradient display, and Speed display. Ignoring more complex forms such as stopping distance and such there is a couple things that if PTC was implemented in a smaller fashion I would like to see. - Speed protection (No more than 2 miles and hour over before it kicks emergency on) - Gradient display (Although this sounds and is probably pretty hard, its on the menu so I think it could be possible) - Max speed and Current speed display (This would help with removing huds all together since PTC equipped locomotives have no max speed indication.) Here is a very helpful document regarding PTC: http://blet758.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/PTC-StartUp-and-Operation.pdf
Honestly, I'm fine with a basic and dumbed Version of PTC, The problem is with the broader community.
I honestly dont know why people dont see that they dont need to reinvent PTC, it just needs to model it.
This question has been asked and answered multiple times by DTG and why it can’t be implemented, even in a more simpler version like you’re suggesting. It’s not as easy as you’re suggesting to add. Just because it shows up on the HUD, it’s a complete different thing to add it to be displayed on a screen in the cab. This was again explained by Matt.
I was talking to Matt about this last night thats why this started, we talked about doing some bare features.
