---for my one March Madness buy (the CFO would freak if I bought more). The candidates: C-40W: tempting (SPG is my most-played route), but with Clinchfield around the corner... Oakdale Subdivision: ditto HRR: Not all that interested in the route itself, more in the 425 filling out HMA's Regio timetable BR 363: well-spoken of, but restricted to RSN (which is however one of my favorite routes) My tastes- love freight (again, SPG is my favorite route), like shunting. Passenger express is OK. Can't stand commuter rail (I'll never buy RT, and I never play LIRR; I'll drive an S-Bahn once in a blue moon)
Get the BR 363. It adds shunting to RSN and some normal freight services to RSN. From those 4 you give us there, I would recommend that the most. But if you really love SPG, then wait for Clinchfield. It looks like a decent route and might gives you more.
363 is a better model than Dash 8 but! Since I bought both of them... Dash 8 is my most played DLC for TSW. I love SPG too <3 Dash 8 is an improved AC4400 in terms of in-game-quality and fun. Love it. Plus, it has a proper initial reduction value (6 PSI) Still, reused sounds, including the terrible horn. 'Don't tell anything about mentioned routes - routes are always a high priority buy for me - such a rule. PS 363 is a must-have too for shunting-lover. But, every choice will be a good one. I have similar taste.
I‘m not gonna go into too much detail here since you already had some input in your other threads. C40-8W Very good candidate to my mind. For now, you‘ll have to live with a non-functional banking comm though. But it is a very different experience from either the SD40-2 or the AC44. If you‘re getting Clinchfield on day one though, then it may be worth waiting for now. Who knows, maybe there‘ll be some fixes for it on the way by the time you‘ll be getting it after Clinchfield. OSD I can‘t recommend it. It feels like it has an identity crisis (switching vs mainline). The switching is not terribly well done to my mind and the route feels very dead with all of the big, empty passenger stations. HRR The real star of HRR is the Br 425. I‘ve been on them a lot in real life and let me tell you - the sounds are spot on. HRR is quite busy with all of the layers but still feels somewhat dead thanks to completely empty yards. I‘d approach HRR like a Br 425 loco DLC basically. Decide if it‘s worth it based on that. It‘s what I did. Br 363 This is a real gem to my mind. Everything fits together so well. The loco is very unique and a completely different driving experience to anything else in TSW. The sounds are fantastic. The services are fantastic. I know I‘m sounding like an ad but I just have nothing but praise for this DLC. In conclusion, I‘d avoid OSD. Maybe hold back on the C40-8W if you‘re getting Clinchfield on release. That leaves HRR and Br 363. Seeing how you prefer freight services, I‘d probably end up recommending the Br 363 to you, but you should now have enough information to make that call yourself, I hope Edit: corrected some horrible grammar and spelling
Eventually, some pragmatic aspect of HRR - this is the base-mandatory route for 101, if You are planning to buy 101. Lamplight is 100% right. The true choice is no choice. Just to buy 363... first. Dash 8 - later. Or...
oooh- another bonus I hadn't thought of... The 363 and its cement cars are Livery Designer compatible! Ah kin paint 'em!
BR363 from this list definitely. HRR is OK but not exciting. I do not own Oakville. The C-40W will not give you a lot of really new gameplay. Make sure to save some money for Arosa and Clinchfield.
