I want to buy most of the (under a tenner) back catalogue of routes that I don't own but I'm getting stonewalled because I already own the following: Train Simulator: European Loco & Asset Pack Train Simulator: US Loco & Asset Pack Train Simulator: London Overground Class 378 'Capitalstar' EMU Add-On Train Simulator: North London Line Route Add-On The first two are obvious that I own as they come with most routes these days and the last two are because I'm trying to purchase the North London & Goblin Lines Add-On and already own the North London Line Route, how do I get around this?
If you mean the warning that comes up when you click buy you should be able to just acknowledge that and continue to the purchase page. There was a similar but different problem recently with people trying to get one of the South Wales routes when they already had the other. In that case I think it was necessary to contact Dovetail.
It lets me get past that warning but then on the next step it refuses to let me continue the purchase, I would screenshot it but steams timed me out at the moment due to me trying to many times. I'll try again and see if I can get a screenshot but I'm on my tablet now not my PC plus I don't know how long my time out is going to last
Ok I got some screenshots... First screen grab shows the duplicate warning but lets me click "continue with purchase " Then I get this.. If I click continue it just repeats this second screen.
I'd also like to add that with all the sub £10 routes and a few locos/dmu's my total was coming in at just over £103 and that's not including the £28.21 I spent earlier yesterday. It's not often I spend this much in one hit, sods law it isn't going to plan.
Aaah - you can fix this now. I think you need to buy some of the items in your list in separate purchases. The first screenshot is the warning that you already own stuff. The second screenshot is "warning" you that you are about to buy the same thing twice right now (with multiple duplicates in your basket), say two more Euro Loco & Asset Packs... It is a very useful feature (generally), even if it isn't clear. So - I'd buy the routes first, one by one if need be (to avoid the second "warning" about, say, asset packs) ... and then the locos (and you might actually save yourself a loco purchase, if one is already in one of your newly purchased routes). You will then still get the first warning about already owning stuff, but you won't then be blocked by the second warning - it won't appear, because it won't be relevant anymore.
Hi Guys, Just to chime in on this - worth noting that the Loco and Asset packs are also included with some other add-ons you may have purchased previously. So, try removing those from your cart to see if you're able to then purchase. There's a very easy method to check whether you already have the Loco & Asset Packs, and that's to go to your Train Simulator installation folder (you can get to this quite easily by going to your Game Library in Steam, right-click and select Manage, and then Browse Local Files). Then continue along the file path to Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\. If you see items listed such as the Class37, Class47, Class55, etc. You already have the Euro pack. Repeat the process to check the US one by going to Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel and if you see a listing for the SD40-2 and ES44AC, you own that too. Hope this helps. Best, Steve
Ahh, thank you! I've now got most of what I wanted by purchasing one at a time, quite the pain in the derriere but it's working, well it was until steam put me back on the naughty step for buying too much again. Huh always figured it'd be the wife that'd say that before steam would. Anyway, looks like you were on the money with what you said, and now I'll soon be out of it, so yeah, thanks a bunch.
This made me crack into laughter.... so...anyway.... it's a bit of a shame that you'll have to wait a few months, or a large chunk of a year...or put another way.... a substantial and significant amount of your life... to use your new and untested hardware with your purchases... So.... I was wondering.... do they do flowers on Steam...? Surely there is a way to get an early look in with the Rail Driver....? Aaaah - I have an idea....! How about an "early" birthday present for the wife, sealed in a box... waiting to be opened.... sitting next to your parcel.... with a card on it saying "Happy Birthday" and "Contents not to be opened until the special day"....!? ;-)
One thing I do agree with: buy routes before locos. Netherfield is a great example of this. Includes four locos with it, and at least two are similar in cost or higher by themselves. Just get the route. Goblin is another great one, I had NLL in my basket until I looked up Goblin and realized, "Wait, I get that AND a train..." ICE 2 comes with Hamburg-Hanover, do not buy it solo... Things like that. If you really want a certain loco, check on SteamDB that you actually can only get it by itself. On the page "Packages" (if you have "Apps", click on the app in question to get the correct starting page), you will find "Packages that include this app". It lists every store item on Steam that has ever sold that app in it. The ICE 2 has 38 (!) entries, mostly from things like "Train Simulator 2015 - Uplay Collectors Edition", "Train Simulator 2014 - Standard Edition", "Train Simulator 2013 Summer Collection", and even "Ultimate German Collection". Clicking the store page for these older items brings up the home page because the item is no longer sold. However, "Train Simulator: Hamburg Hanover Route" appears in the list, as does "Train Simulator: Complete ICE Collection". These are both valid. I didn't know of the ICE collection without checking that page, and now know the 411 and 605 exist in that group. We'll ignore that the bundle price is at full price (nearly three times more) and there's no point buying the bundle; just load up any individual trains and go, but save the ICE 2 for the Hamburg-Hanover purchase.
I have completed my purchases for now (errrm... probably), but I noticed that even if a route is on sale, that a bundle might be on an even better sale - check out the Miami route in the current sale - if you get the bundle with an extra loco, then it's cheaper than the heavily discounted route. Do you know if there a good way to find a list all of the bundles that are currently available? NB: Today, I think I picked up about five locos with routes (also available separately), without expecting them - mostly steam though - some were possibly from Netherfield actually... as you said above.
Or you might find that the 4CIG is on sale, but the 4VEP is not...but if you buy the 2017-released "BR Class 419 MLV BEMU", you get all three. So at this point, the 4VEP is basically free. Knowing these bundles is a very smart thing, and that's going into my collection even though I have never seen the 419 used anywhere (the 4CIG and 4VEP often are). Also found the York Modern while looking up the EWS 66 v2.0. Another commonly seen one in my hunts, also gives the InterCity 91 and Class 158, both of which I've also seen utilized. I don't know about the other Class 91 in the package, but it's there, so I guess I'll take it too.
