This is no doubt something that all the experienced drivers are familiar with and no longer even think about, however I feel it greatly detracts from the new(er) player experience and could perhaps benefit from a bit of an overhaul. Mind you, if I am incorrect in how I perceive how things currently operate - then that's part of the issue. Currently, the "Stop At" marker *seems* to be relevant to you - the driver. Your own eyeballs in the driver's seat. So Point #1, fair enough. Except that I don't think this is explicitly said anywhere in the tutorials. So you have to figure this out by trial and error (which in itself is fine, except that a person may have just invested 45 minutes or more only to discover this feature by 2 feet and fail.) So I would like to see this made a bit more explicit, perhaps in the Training Center - in addition to the ramifications of this, i.e. the rear of the train. Which brings me to, Point #2... Point #2 is, why *is* the Stop At marker when reversing still based on your own eyeballs? To combine these two points, as a Quality of Life feature, why can't the Stop-At markers be based on the direction of travel in conjunction with the actual train? So when going forward (standard engine-leading, etc), the Stop At marker would be based on the nose of the train - the contact point, as it were. Same when reversing. Stop At would be based on the rear of the train - again, the contact point. Heck, maybe make it a toggle-able option in the Settings as a realism feature. As you can plainly tell, I am a newer player and I am finding while I enjoy the technical and intricate nature of many aspects (managing speeds, stop distances, etc etc) it's the little things like these that frustrate me - and I can't be the only one. I hate failing a scenario after an hour because I was trying to inch closer to a signal thinking "maybe that's why I'm not getting any response?" and being 8 feet away and failing because I didn't realize the distance was based on ME and not the nose. I just feel that for an item that exists only in the game-world (ie, not a piece of equipment being modeled on a locomotive), a hud-based quest marker should tell you where to actually stop moving the train, not where to stop moving the driver. Thanks, and sorry for the wall of text. Edit: Typos and adding more paragraph breaks for readability
I know what you mean. When I first got tsw2020, I didn't know when moving backwards, it was supposed to be the rear of the train but it was still showing the distance from the drivers position. Even in some newer dlcs, I would often forget and then the service/scenario becomes messed up cuz the wrong part of the train stopped at the stop marker.
