I always thought that the lead loco gets put into “lead or dead” however when running service 900f special caltrain from Cemof to San Jose the train won’t fill amps and get moving unless it’s placed into “trail 24 or 26” “Lead or dead” activates the “PCS open” light and results in the train not getting amps therefore not moving. is this correct ? edit: after some further looking into this i found that this PCS light only occurs if you cut the automatic handle in before releasing it. If you release the handle first then cut it in, no PCS light triggers. Same thing with the Control Car once you reach San Jose
