As depicted in the game, several timetable runs & scenarios on Harlem Line end up on dark sidings below GCT. How do train crews 'safely' do a swap over there ? Isn't it quite dark & full of 3rd rails all over the place ?
Also, unlike the UK, aren't the juice rails bottom contact and fully sheathed with wood or other insulation at the top and sides?
Yes, Metro North uses a " bottom contact " 3rd rail, presumably for safety reasons. The LIRR, however, uses a standard top contact shoe and rail system.
