Do AI have a maximum range on which they activate? I have a service on the other side of the map that is just sitting there? This is despite it having orders to leave 1 minute after the scenario start in order to drive past me further down the line.

Hi its time based rather than range, try checking the route of the AI and timings see if it makes a difference.

It's on the South Wales Mainline route. The scenario starts at 09:00:00. The train that isn't moving is placed at Neath, set to depart at 09:04:00. The two nearest trains are at Swansea, set to depart at 10:00:00, and at Cardiff Central which is set to depart at like 09:30:00.

The Neath train won't reach the place where the Cardiff train is until after that train is gone. So that shouldn't affect it right?

That's interesting Jamie, my impression has always been its range based. Only based on the loosest of gut feelings really - now I shall experiment with time based by driving towards an AI at different speeds. I assume if it is time based then a slow speed will produce activation a shorter distance away from the AI than a fast speed. Fun and games.

It is also range based and you can set the trigger radius via TSTools but I don't think you can anywhere else this is documented well over on the UKTS forum so I will cheekily snippet a relevant bit of info from there.

And here is the option in TSTools..

I just don't know whether you can set this Trigger distance in the TSC Scenario editor though as I've not seen the option myself.

Ah thats in normal scenarios rather than quick drives ? Explains my confusion - I tend to forget you can use AI in normal scenarios as well. You can't specifiy a start time or distance trigger in a quick drive ( so far as I am aware ). The AI is just triggered as an automatic thing over which the only control seems to be where you place it. Willing to learn different as that would be brill if it were possible to exert more control in a quick drive.

When you place an AI Spawn marker in a QD Scenario you can choose the types of trains that will appear.

And they will start when you are within around a mile of the other train.

2km as far as my experience tells me. As the crow flies.
