In the said game, NPC ask you for help finding locations that they want to go to that do how to get to.

    I have a simple question.

Does that happen in real life?

    Please and thank you

It can and does, more so in major cities with tourists as local towns and villages are a massive majority of locals who know they’re way around.

though I imagine if anyone is anywhere they don’t know and need to get somewhere, they will usually find the first person around and ask, that could be a police officer.

You’ll be surprised to see police officers from other countries patrolling with the local police not in their country of origin, especially during estival seasons to help specific tourists. It’s a bit common to have this kind of exchange between different corps of police in Europe in some cities. By exemple you can find Romanian or German police officers patrolling with Parisian ones. Police officers in general know their place of work it’s quite common to ask them for directions.

Yes. Most police forces do this. Mainly because, I'd suspect, if you take a wrong turn, you may end up in serious bother - and if it's down an ignorant officer then they and the force are to blame.

Also because *most* police officers are quite good people. In Europe, certainly.

Of course, as MYG92 says, you can find police out of place. Here in Britain, when there's a really big event in London, police (mainly firearms but also regulars) are pulled south - see the Coronation of King Chuck III as an example.

Yes, asking police for directions is a thing, I've done it before and they were happy to assist.

It surprises me that this would be seen to not be a thing to be honest.

In some parts of the world it’s less common though, I’ve seen Americans react like it’s a foreign thing before that people do that, its probably not a total absence in the US, but maybe not very common or case by case type thing, could be similar with the other 200ish places their is aswell
