Question Regarding German Signals

    What's the point of putting these repeaters so close to the main signal ?

    It's not a repeater, it's a shunting signal :) It can allow shunting movements even if the main signal says stop

    Thanks. From what I remember, shunt signals used to be on the ground on all other routes. But it makes sense now :D

    Yeah the reason why especially semaphore shunting signals are sometimes quite high up is that the signaller needs to be able to see them from the viewpoint of the signal box ;) To check if the signal is working correctly and not stuck in Sh1 position, which would be a huge safety risk.
