How come a lot of new routes and locos (new releases) are getting through a lot quicker in what I assume is the same testing as stuff that has been waiting for a while like preserved collection surely new things would join the back of a list and or do they get priority
DTG are a business. New DLC generates profit, preserved collection updates don‘t. It‘s as simple as that.
Sadly the new stuff seemingly gets priority so DTG can carry on paying the bills. We just have to be patient, but it’s no less frustrating.
Indeed, the revolutionary thinking that an increased product quality and feature quantity for existing products leads to a higher number of sales for existing and future products on the long term still is obviously too revolutionary to be actually realized. Somehow understandable in current times but nevertheless frustrating...
It could also be that the "normal product testing" timetable is not increased overly by adding in systems or complexity in the background. As an example, when you first introduce automated speed boards you might test them exhaustively in each case to ensure that the limits show on the boards, the HUD, that the speedometer changes colour etc etc Then three routes down the line you're likely more comfortable that the speed boards work "as a central feature" so you spend less time focussing on testing those aspects As with any development process, streamlining and efficiency are key, so it could just be they're taking less time doing that on each and every aspect, focussing instead on "the new" and "known issues"
