Hello, Im confused - on page 2 of ai spawn markers there is some consist types called "custom" - with a number on the end. How do i make for example "custom1" point at a consist, for example could it point at DTG HST blue or would it need to be literal and point at a consist i have made such as my railexpress 47 combined with nox parcels? I dont have any payware tools and im using the inbuilt editor (thats how i created a consist that was a 47 with the nox parcels that come with the class 67). Any help would be appreciated. Im sure its something obvious like right clicking with a keyboard button on "custom1" but cant quite figure it out. Would be good to get lots of custom/random ai going in quick drive aside from what comes with a particular route.
My only other thought was in the folder structure somewhere in the dtg install is there a location called "custom1" and i need to find the file that represents my 47+nox and place it within the custom 1 folder in order for it to work?(as long as i set the spawn chance to 1.000 when back in the editor) Any help or guidance as above is welcome
The customx descriptors allow a route/scenario creator to spawn a subset of rolling stock in a QD scenario - usually to cater for special situations such as restricted route availability such that only specific stock can run. They are an attribute of preload bins which allow the creator to define a consist as belonging to one of the main categories: eConsistTypePassengerRegional eConsistTypePassengerFast eConsistTypePassengerIntercity eConsistTypePassengerCommuter eConsistTypeFreightLivestock eConsistTypeFreightCoal eConsistTypeFreightGravel eConsistTypeFreightOil eConsistTypeFreightWood eConsistTypeFreightPaper eConsistTypeFreightContainer OR a Customx category which is (usually) specific to that route. In my case I use Custom1 to indicate large, express locos running light engine (Custom2 is medium stuff and Custom3 is RA1 stuff) - but this is specific to my route and there are no rules on how you use them. You should be able to specify these in the Consist editor thingy - but I have no idea as I never use it. It is easier(for me) to use RWtools and edit the 'ConsistType' to the required value (see below). However, there are issues with that approach so you might want to try the consist editor first! [..fragment from a preload consist in RWTools ] <EngineType d:type="cDeltaString">Steam</EngineType> <EraStartYear d:type="sUInt32">1947</EraStartYear> <EraEndYear d:type="sUInt32">1966</EraEndYear> <DrivingEngineIndex d:type="sUInt32">0</DrivingEngineIndex> <ValidBuildAndDriveRoutes> <cConsistValidRoute d:id="52325936"> <RouteGUID d:type="cDeltaString">bca878a5-d9da-42fe-ad47-ea34cab7db1b</RouteGUID> </cConsistValidRoute> </ValidBuildAndDriveRoutes> <DrivableConsist d:type="cDeltaString">eFalse</DrivableConsist> <ConsistType d:type="cDeltaString">eConsistTypeCustom2</ConsistType> <HasPantograph d:type="cDeltaString">eFalse</HasPantograph> <Has3rdRailShoe d:type="cDeltaString">eFalse</Has3rdRailShoe> <Requires4thRail d:type="cDeltaString">eFalse</Requires4thRail>
Thank you for the reply. Yes i think the best way is for me to edit my new consist in the trackside editor to attribute it to north wales route guid. However i have no idea how to do is from trackside consist editor, will wait for further thread based help
You do need to be careful with Custom types as they are very often route specific. So, for instance custom type 1 on the Western Lines of Scotland is very different from the Stainmore route. That is where the route specifics tags of a consist are valuable as you can limit your custom to the routes whose consist spawner has the custom consist spawned in the place you want. What you can't do is to change the details of consist spawners that have already been set out - that can have some amusing and unfortunate side effects with a bunch of static sheep wagons magically appearing beside the coal loading stage in the MPD...
