Can you change the ai rolling stock on a route when using quick drive. For example, replace the 365s and hst's with 707s and 801s? On London to Peterborough. Thanks.
You can but its a bit of an effort - but its well worth it (although London Peterborough route doesn't have masses of AI Spawn points) The default AI is set to run between 1988 and 2050. The correct (but long winded way) would be to go in and set up all the consists with the correct date using RW Tools. I have 2700 consists so is going to be a bit of an effort! So the other much quicker way is to change QD scenario route date to 2052, then you should effectively have no AI. Then create new AI consists for the trains that you want (using Consist creator in RWE2 enhancer for example): Using Content Explore / Consists, find the LNER 800 in the defaults, and click create new consist (right click) based on this: - Date to between 2051 and 2053. - The categories the router uses need to be set as: (but they may be others) Passenger InterCity Passenger Commuter - Add to London Peterborough route Personally, for this route I have stayed with scenarios and changed date, times and weather etc.
If you have TS Tools I guess the quickest way if you want to use the original quick drives would be to to change the scenario dates in the build menu as detailed above then for example in Tools go to Route Building Tools-Check QD consists and fragments-AP-C700EP-Preload-check all QD consists-Edit selected QD consist. You can then if necessary change the designation of the selected consist that you have chosen to match that of the original default stock Intercity or Commuter or whatever it may be. Then change the end year date and make it available for the route in question. This only takes a couple of minutes to do but on the down side you might have to use the diesel option for the 801s as electric traction may not be enabled for IC trains in the original scenarios. You would also have to change the scenario dates back again if you wanted to run the original default quick drives. Again If you are using the route a lot and have the time to do it the ideal solution is to build your own scenarios using whatever consists you want from the above menu. I used the workshop route with the extension to Royston which gives a clean slate to work with. A route of this length would probably involve at least a couple of hours work in each direction which I find a chore but you might find it rewarding. It means you can have as much or as little AI as you want as well as being able to put in the odd bit of random conflicting AI.
The existing AI for London - Peterborough has an era date range of between 1988 to 2050. In theory, any AI within that date range and in the correct consist group could re-appear in a QD scenario. I set the route as 2052 so it avoids that possibility. and then only AI I have set up with an era range of 2051-2053 will appear.
Thanks for the replies. I will change the date and add some new consists, that's a handy little tip. Yeah I do create quite a lot of scenarios as you say it can be time consuming, even changing the consists in a scenario takes a bit of time as I do this manually. Sometimes it's nice to jump into quick drive and just drive without all the editing first.
