i am now downloading all my tsw2 content into my newly bought tsw3. i am wondering when i pres quick play does it only choose services and scenarios i never done before? in other words if i only do quick play i eventioly i do everything i bought without doing something twice? i always have a hard time picking someting to drive, thats why i ask thank you for the feed back.
Usually it's scenarios you haven't done before. For me the West Somerset Railway scenarios are tedious. I love the route and services and rolling stock (even more so since the Preservation update) but the scenarios are boring.
west summerset is nice when you are tired after a hard days work. when you reaction speed is slow and hard to focus, those slow routes are great.
Quick play will only send you into services, scenarios and tutorials (if you have those selected) that you haven't done before. Technically, you can complete Train Sim World using this. If you haven't done all the tutorials for a loco before, Quick play will make sure it will send you to a tutorial before sending you to services and scenarios involving that loco (if you have tutorials in quick play enabled).
Quick play genuinely sounds like a good idea on paper, but I’d love to have just a handful of additional toggles/filters. After all, it can send you on an hour-long service, so messing around with the settings for a few seconds should be possible. Being able to select the service type (passenger or freight/empty coaching stock) as well as the region (America, Great Britain, Europe) would add lots of attractiveness to the feature. Could obviously add more stuff on top of that, like a toggle for express/regional services.
I believe Quick play states and will only select options 30 min or less in duration (but we all know how that goes) and in my experience always gives me the same few services/timetables. I do not use it anymore, it's just as easy to go choose something.
QP gives you a choice between under-30 and longer services. However, I think the interface would be enormously improved if once you spin the roulette wheel, the game would tell you what you've won (and how long it will take) BEFORE launching the route and putting you into the loading screens. Better still, include a "spin again" button in case you don't like the result.
I agree with the "spin again" button, but I like the surprise I get when I am loaded into a route blindly. (Followed by disappointment when it loads me into Sand Patch Grade's "Powering America Part 1" Scenario [which is broken]).
Another idea: Based on your selected criteria, it could select not just one, but instead 2-6 services and allow you to choose which one of them you actually want to play. That would eliminate the disappointment (and anger) that comes with being loaded into broken or simply unsatisfactory scenarios/services, but also save the player from spending minutes re-rolling the “Lucky Wheel” until a good scenario/service is found.
