Nearly every time I load up TSW5, it tries to quick resume and then bombs out with the following message: We need to close this game or app. Your saved data has changed since you last played on this Xbox so we need to close Train Sim World 5, When you launch it again, your data will be up to date. This rather defeats the objective of quick resume. Of course I save my game if I’m in the middle of a run but it still does this even if I haven’t saved. What gives? This is the only game I get this problem with.
Hm, this sounds strange. Albeit Quick Resume doing funny things here and there, this should only happen when the game is played on any other device in between. I tested it back in the days when I had GamePass and tried TSW via Cloud Gaming on a Tablet. Afterwards the same behaviour occured. But I assume we can exclude this in your case, you were only playing on your Xbox?
Update on this. I’ve spotted a pattern which doesn’t quite make sense. I’ve got the Xbox version of TSW2 (not TSW5) installed on my PC and boot it up most mornings and leave it for 15 minutes to get my reward points. If I do this, then I get the problem with Quick Resume not working. If I use a different game, e.g. Minesweeper, Quick Resume of TSW5 works fine. I’m not sure why this should be the case as TSW2 and TSW5 are different games which install separately but I’ll use a different game in the future and, fingers crossed, TSW5 Quick Resume should work.
Please be aware that using Quick Resume will disconnect you from the Dovetail Live servers, meaning your mastery data won't be tracking. This is a known limitation of Quick Resume. Also, Quick Resume will prevent you from seeing newly installed add-ons, until you restart the game. The interaction between TSW 2 and 5 could be due to the ability to import TSW 2 profiles. Microsoft sees the update on the TSW 2 side and assumes the data TSW 5 has access to is now out-of-date.
No worries. When you launch the game normally, it signs in to Dovetail Live, and creates a token to authenticate your session. If you leave the game in Quick Resume, that token may expire. Therefore, when you next open the game in Quick Resume, you may not be connected anymore unless you tell it to sign in.
Is it possible to create some sort of checking system if the Token is expired after you quit back to main menu when finishing a service? Because right now the game usually crashes then, I think it could be the missing DTL connection responsible for this as this occurs mostly at resuming after quite a while, like pausing the game one day and finishing the service one day after. I noticed if you save the game before finishing it sometimes, but not always, prevents the game from crashing, maybe because a DTL connection is established then?
