Railway Ghost/suspense Novels

    Some atmospheric railway ghost novels that I've heard on the radio years ago have left such an impression that I'd like to read more but am having trouble locating any. They seemed to be popular in the 19th century - gothic, slow burn, gently creepy, time-warping kind've thing. Any suggestions ?

    Charles Dickens the signalmen comes to mind it's a short story but meant to be interesting
