Randomly came up with this but here goes I’m wondering if it would be worthwhile to learn how to code and make stuff for tsw, like this might be better for me then asking for steam locos to be work on by dtg. but this is probably a dumb idea going on the fact I have no experience on coding and I probably would struggle to get audio and that type of stuff. hell I probably would be denied anyways because of my complaining about Xbox sales and stuff update: I’m not sure for certain but my laptop probably won’t actually be able to run any of the tools I need, this was my dumb idea….
I have no clue how long it would take but who knows maybe I will give coding a try and maybe one day in between getting a normal job and finishing college
From what we have learnt, the simulation of steam locomotives is fundamentally broken and can't be fixed by third party developers. You would need access to TSW's source code to fix it, and DTG understandably aren't going to do that.
I commend your enthusiasm and you can only learn from your mistakes in terms of development. In terms of steam simulation I'd imagine you'd have to start from scratch. I'd also imagine steam physics are a lot more complicated then steam or diesel so would certainly take a lot of time and effort to implement. But, it you're committed to it and enthusiastic then go for it... No harm in trying though?
I would try but my laptop is completely under powered for this time of project, and really it was just something I came up with when I was really tired. hmm something I may try to do after getting a job is saving a ton of money to fund a small team of developers that like the same trains and stuff as me and possibly working something out but we all know that’s not going to happen anytime soon, it would probably be impossible as well
How about finish college, apply to DTG for a job and spend a year with them to see how things work and then make the suggestion to DTG and see?
I live in Scotland and they are located in England so it would be pretty difficult, honestly I may just go for a job with scotrail for now then decide to move away later down the line
They use to be in Scotland didn't they? Yeah, if you can get some hands on with a rail network even better.
Don’t know just when I looking I only saw jobs in England, working for scotrail has always been a dream of mine and who knows maybe I would be able to help with getting permits for a new Scotland route, I Doubt that but it’s a funny thought
