Hello everyone, today I'd like to propose a remastering of Rapid Transit. I'm a big fan of this line, which could be greatly improved. The first improvement is the track speed between Bitterfeld and Rackwitz, the current speed is 160 km/h (100 mph) in game, but the real speed of the line is 200 km/h (125 mph). Even if the BR 1442 as a maximum speed of 160 km/h, other rolling mentioned below can run at 200 km/h. Then, the signalling system can be improved. The line is equipped with LZB but the LZB start after 1 or 2 kilometers after Bitterfeld but in reality the LZB start at Bitterfeld and finish just after Rackwitz. The LZB cable is also poorly represented in the middle of the crossbeams and is not realist. Finally, the LZB regularly bugs in Free Roam mode with BR 401, 403 and 406. After that, this line is used by many passenger and freight trains such as the BR 101, 193, 146, 401, 403, 406, ... for passenger services and BR 155, 185, … for freight services. All these rolling stock can be added to make the line more alive. With all these rolling stock, the timetable and the scenarios could be more interesting with some IC and ICE services as well as some freight services. Leipzig Hbf and its depot could be modeled, as it's one of the most important stations in Germany, and I think it's a shame that it's not possible to get there. Modeling the station could be useful for future lines starting from Leipzig. A final suggestion is to merge Rapid Transit with Nahverkehr Dresden-Riesa, which would provide even more services and a longer line. Knowing that a lot of people love Nahverkehr Dresden-Riesa, I think many of us would like to have longer services to Leipzig Hbf. Don't hesitate to give your opinion, in the hope that my suggestion will please you.
Hello everyone, I've just learned that the S-Bahn Mitteldeutscheland is going to equip itself with Siemens Mireo in 3 different versions (2, 3 and 4 carbodies) normally by the end of 2026. If a remaster or even an extension of the Rapid Transit line is planned, it would be great if DTG could integrate the different versions as well as more other traffic such as freights and Flixtrain/IC and ICE to make the line more lively. I hope you'll like this suggestion, because I think Rapid Transit has a lot of potential that's not being fully exploited at the moment, so don't hesitate to give us your ideas for improving this line. Here are some photos and artist views from Railcolornews
Another thing that would be great for Rapid Transit would be to be able to access the DB heavy maintenance center in Dessau to bring locomotives in for overhaul, for example. This wouldn't be out of place, since on the Dresden-Riesa line, we can pick up wagons from the chemical plant. What do you think of this idea? Second. RT was TSW's first ever German route, and so much has gone by around it over the years. It really is due for a remaster both to clean up the route and bring it back up to current TSW standards. I like the upgrades you put forth with the LZB, finishing up Leipzig Hbf, and just cleaning up the graphics in the route in general. The only proposition I would disagree with is the Riesa extension. This is because the ICE services that would run along Rapid Transit run north-south to/from Berlin while the services on DRA run east-west and only join the RT network briefly at Leipzig Hbf itself before diverging again, which would leave a much less busy timetable on the rest of the route. Instead, I would add in an extension from Bitterfeld to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. As I've mentioned earlier, most of the ICE services on RT run between Berlin and Leipzig, and this is the first station a lot of them really call at. Combined with the S2 and S8 also having some trains that call this station its terminus, and you have something that would be much busier and solid when combined with ICE services. Also, from what I know, the 406s don't really run on either RT or DRA, as the 411 does the DRA route IRL while the 406s are used mostly out in Koln and Frankfurt for Benelux ICE trains. I do like the recommendation of the Mireo as well. It would be a new EMU for TSW, and a sorely needed one given how many DB Talent 2s have been made since. With how buggy the RT Talent 2 still is, it is not entirely out of the question to just scrap that EMU and replacing it with this one (and they can always just run the DB Talent 2 on the RE services between Leipzig and Magdeburg, which runs to Dessau). And conceivably, longer term, these Mireos could layer onto the S-Bahn Frankfurt route that is coming up at Mainz, since they run the Rhein Neckar S6 route... I know all of this will require a lot of work, but if they do all this and do it well, it will absolutely help this route's value.
I like the Mireo suggestion cos if DTG did that one, they could skip Desiro ML for OBB/Austrian content (as much as I love those) and could go right for these, as they are projected to be the successor to Desiro ML units for S-Bahn/REX/commuter services ... and they have almost the same traction motor sounds as Desiro ... not sure about controls tho (one of coolest features of Desiro ML is that once you reach the desired speed and put the combined controller into 0 (minimal kinda, not idle) position, it locks WHATEVER speed you are going, acting as a nice cruise control for whatever speed you desire I actually like this route cos you can use 182 to quite some nice extent here and at decent speeds plus LZB any improvements are welcome
