I'm planning to buy Rapid Transit. To run the S8 line, do you need the BR143 from Ruhr Sieg Nord or can you drive this service also with the BR1442?
You can also use the 143 from DRA for the S8 line from and to Halle Hbf. But you probably need the RSN version because of the Dostos. Unfortunately, the 1442 isn't used for this service, nor is the 182, although Dostos are included in the DLC. Even though RT is now outdated, it's still fun to ride. The City Tunnel is still a highlight; it gives you a real subway feeling. The biggest drawback in this DLC is Leipzig Hbf, because there's absolutely nothing going on there. But for all aviation fans, there's at least an Airbus Beluga XL to see if you've completed the Mastery rewards here. Since in real life, I can take the RB50 from platform 7 in Dessau Hbf to my hometown, I'm emotionally attached to this route.
Thanks for the answer, I was already afraid I needed RSN for S8 services. Atleast I have a valid reason to buy RSN I suppose. I know the route is old, but after watching footage on youtube, I think it's still a route for me to enjoy. I like S-bahn, I like the BR442 and "most important", the trains are not red Some more AI traffic like IC, RE and freight would be nice, but based on IRL footage, there are quiet parts on this route anyway.
The biggest drawback to RT is the abysmal sounds on the 1442. Traction sound is very quiet and there is little to no track audio resulting in a sterile non tactile driving experience. A shame as the route itself is quite good.
That's a bummer. On the BR422 the sound levels are also irritating low, but atleast there a workaround.
So I bought this route earlier and man its so quite you could hear a pin drop. And the acceleration and brakes are way to sensitive this is for the br1442.1.
Now I really in a doubt. The route is really attractive to me because of the S-bahn services with the BR1442, but with almost no sound I'm afraind it will irritating me.
I had to turn the tv right up just hear atmospheric sound apart from them two things its quite a nice route.
Does someone knows if the derailing on the S6 line is fixed? This was a bug going back to 2021, but also saw some reports of last year.
Thanks for the reply, that's to bad it hasn't been fixed after years. Sadly this route seems to have to many issues, I think I will pass.
