Hi folks- I'm struggling in trying to find realistic real-life timetables that also include the loco/MU details. Coming from the flight sim community, I was hoping for something similar to timetableimages.com, which lists tons of historical routes with the exact equipment. Is there any comprehensive resource for current or historical routes? FWIW I'm mostly driving around the UK these days.
The problem that you come up against is that in railway terms, schedules, locomotive/unit diagrams, coaching stock and crew diagrams etc were all in separate publications. You need to assemble these together for your desired result, but it is quite difficult to obtain them for matching dates. Sadly they don't come delivered on a plate! John
Why don't you try ThirdRails? It let's you find real schedules, you can check train composition and even compare yourself to how a real train is doing. Apart from that you have gps map, spoken announcements, community etc.
If you look on RealTime Trains you can check out the running times for Freight and Passenger trains for any day of the week. I just chose Doncaster for this example https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:DON?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt When you click on the train depending on the operator you can get the trains formation for passenger services Two examples from a few weeks back Peter
