I know you can set the weather to be what you want, but it's a bit of a clunky thing to do, Anyone who's played Omsi2 will know it has a wonderfull feature of 'Real Time Weather' If set to on, the game pulls the weather info from the nearest airport's weather server, and sets the in-game weather the same, it's updated every 5 minutes, so if it's chucking it down in the city your driving in, then the rain lightens... the in game weather does the same, sun comes out, you get that in the game too, and of course the driving conditions change too... get snow and you start slipping about if you dont drive accordingly. in omsi2 you set the weather server manually for the city you are driving in before you start a map. In train sim world that would ideally be automatic and able to change servers based on your location... as we often drive trains from one city to another with ~50km inbetween, Would this be possible? or am i the only one who would want something like this?
Depends on where they get the weather data from, there is the possibility that Microsoft for example (who do offer weather analysis as part of MSN) would not look favourably on a game on their platform making use of a competitors weather data. I'm not sure how many games on console have real weather options but I know of examples where the feature is only available on PC.
omsi gets it's info from the airports weather services, https://www.icao.int/safety/iStars/Pages/Weather-Conditions.aspx
They can also do it with Met office for all routes here's the list for Germany from UK Met Office and the United States list
I hope by the time the team can do Dynamic weather, they can add in the function of real live time weather, because that is what i really love about in MFS and i think the team should add this in to TSW2
someone has managed to make dynamic weather work, but it's clunky, needing a few programs running at once, one to unlock files (Unreal unlocker?), then it sends console commands or something to change the weather every so often, so if someone can make TSW2 do this with no access to the core files / uncooked data etc, imagine what could be done by DTG, i know they are busy making DLC to sell and make money, but if they don't have the staff to do things like make dynamic / real world weather, how about them looking into paying someone freelance or whatever to make it happen... i.e. contact the guy who's managed to get dynamic weather working with no access to the games core, give him access to the files needed and pay him to write the code that allows us to turn on or off dynamic, and hopefully real time real world weather from within the menu's.
I wonder what the impact on memory usage is like, with the rather infamous memory issues of the past month I feel like using up a big chunk more is probably not the best idea.
