    Hello all,

My dad and I are big train buffs--though he's much more enthusiastic than me. We used to ride the Empire Builder every year from Seattle to Minneapolis to visit relatives. He currently volunteers as a conductor for an antique trolley car system that runs on the weekends in our hometown--just as an example.

Anyways, a long time ago we both used to enjoy the heck out of Microsoft Train Simulator. I've been wanting to get him something more up to date and I'm a bit intimidated by the number of options. I am also concerned that his computer will limit some of the options. He has a Microsoft Surface with an 7300u CPU, 8GB RAM, and an Intel HD 620. I was wondering if any of you on this sub had some recommendations for a quality railsim that would play nice with his current hardware. He'd prefer a game with an emphasis on American trains.

    Thanks muc

Not sure if his machine would be powerful enough but you might want to take a look at Run 8
    http://www.run8studios.com/
    Has all American content

I don't have TSW but I'm pretty sure the integrated graphics spell the end of any hope of it running on this. I do have Train Simulator installed on machines with integrated graphics and it does work albeit with a lot of the settings turned down. They slow down when the scenery gets complicated or things get very busy or steam locomotives appear but, if the choice was that or nothing, I know which I'd go for.

I'd guess the hardware requirements for Run8 are about the same BTW.
