Hi everyone. I recently got some money to spend and was looking at purchasing some dlc during the next steam sale. I know dlc is a personal opinion/choice but I just wanted a second opinion. I like all the dlcs whether it be passenger or freight. I have almost all dlc so I am very unbiased and there are issues I can live with like poor scenery, poor sounds, etc as long as I can play the game. Don't come after me but I think arosa is a great swiss route (challenging, new driving experience, etc) lol.

Anyways, the only dlc I have remaining are rapid transit, cane creek, west cornwall local, west somerset and the associated dlc. And the 38 stock, br 204, m3 which I have no interest in getting at all.

For rapid transit, how busy is the new timetable with just the 1442 and with the 182. Like is there a lot of traffic now or does it still feel empty. I like this route for simply being long and having the underground section.

West cornwall I think is okay even though sounds and scenery are not the best. I think it's a decent route since it's somewhere new even though it's still the uk.

Cane Creek is for the challenge and scenery.

West somerset simply for being a preserved route and good scenery even though it's super slow.

I'm not here to cause any arguments or whatever since there are routes many people say are terrible and there's been a lot of heat in the forums.

Any pros/cons or anything I should watch for/expect would be helpful.

Out the 4 you don't have I only have RT and CC so I can only comment first hand on these.

Neither route gets the love they deserve I'm my humble opinion and I run both regularly, neither are without its faults but there's worst DLC in my collection.

RT still feels quiet compared to more modern routes but it is really fun especially now they've fixed the PZB. I have the 182 loco DLC and I'd guess without it, it would feel even quieter bit there's a decent variety of services to run but still no freight sadly.

Canecreek is really quiet with just a handful of services but visually it is stunning and can be challenging with the change in gradients.

If I'd had to choose between them both I'd pick RT just for the variety (and as you say the tunnel section is really georgous).

I keep getting tempted by WCL especially since watching a cab drive view of the line in RL and comparing it to the game it's no where near as inaccurate as certain sections of the community make out (and no worse then 99% of DLC). The only thing keeping it out of my stable is the mixed eras as for me that's an immersion breaker BUT not everyone will share my view on that or class it as important, and if that isn't an issue for you then I'd consider that one as well.

  3. West Somerset is one if my favourites.
    It looks very good.

Probably one of the best made routes available.

Slow yeah. That doesn't mean you can't clatter down the line at 50mph.

I like to place a couple of passenger services and run along the line like it was before it was closed.

Only problem I can see atm is dtg have messed it up! There's no passenger loading in homemade scenarios at the moment.

West Cornwall doesn't interest me in the slightest. I've played one fright scenario and got bored 10 mins into passenger service. The landscape is poorly done.
Although parts of it look good the majority of it don't.

Cane creek is pretty good visually. It's slow but has nice scenery.

It's a bit Quiet regarding other services but has some good activities.

Don't own rapid transit so can't comment on that one.

Personally I would say go for Cane Creek. It's slow but if you don't mind losing the pointless Action Points you can go a bit faster than the speed limit. The scenery is the main appeal, apart from a few levitated rocks and some rather dodgy looking dual carriageway roads, it is superb a work of art.

I don't recommend West Cornwall at all. the route building is poor regardless of how accurate or otherwise the surrounding area is. The Class 150 is a disgrace and still waiting Rivet to fix it. About the only thing it has going for itself is a test track of sorts to thrash the classic diesels.

Rapid Transit was another one I refunded. The main player train, 1442 I think, was so quiet you could have been floating above the rails. Another abandoned project that DTG have shown no real inclination to fix.
