About Redcliffe Peninsula and Springfield lines are 2 train lines operated by Queensland Rail these lines operate as a through service. The total route length of these lines is 70 km (43.5 mi). Redcliffe Peninsula railway line The Redcliffe Peninsula line is a 12 km stretch of heavy gauge dual-track railway between Petrie and Kippa-Ring on the Redcliffe peninsula. The new line is part of Queensland Rail's City suburban network, branching from the North Coast line. It starts 200 metres north of Petrie railway station, extending from (27.5 km (17.1 mi) to 40.1 km (24.9 mi) north of Central railway station). The line has six stations: Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, Mango Hill, Mango Hill East (previously called Kinsellas Road), Rothwell and Kippa-Ring. Funding for the project consisted of $742 million from the Commonwealth Government, $300 million from the Queensland Government (plus another $120 million for land) and $105 million from the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The line was officially opened on 3 October 2016, about 130 years after it was first proposed. The first train to depart from Kippa-Ring was SMU 285 and 295, with the Prime Minister, Queensland Premier and the first train ballot winners on board. Most services to and/from Kippa-Ring continue on to the Springfield line. Redcliffe Peninsula services run express between Northgate and Bowen Hills, stopping only at Eagle Junction. The typical travel time between Kippa-Ring and Brisbane City is approximately 56 minutes (to Central). Springfield Railway Line Springfield railway line is a 13.6 km (8.5 mi) suburban railway line in Brisbane, Australia that branches from the Ipswich/Rosewood line after Darra railway station. Construction of the line started on 5 July 2010, and it opened on 2 December 2013. The line was developed along with the widening of the nearby Centenary Motorway. The line speed is rated for speeds of up to 140 km/h (87 mph) in most sections. However, only the interurban multiple unit 100 and 120 series and New Generation Rollingstock trains can run at the full speed of the line. The current timetable is based on a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) between Richlands and Springfield stations, which is faster than the Centenary Motorway that runs alongside. Rolling stock EMU - The Electric multiple unit (EMU) is a class of electric multiple units manufactured by Walkers, Maryborough for Queensland Rail between 1979 and 1986. They were the first EMUs in Queensland and some remain in service on the Queensland Rail City network. SMU 200 - The SMU200 series were introduced in 1994 due to a rollingstock shortage after an increase in demand. They were the first new trains since 1989 SMU 220 - The SMU220 series were introduced into service in August 1999 SMU 260 - In 2005, eight SMU260 class sets were ordered from Downer EDI Rail, Maryborough to cater for increased demand. The first set entered service in August 2008. These were followed by an additional 14 sets. IMU 100 - Built between 1996-1997 with 12 sets built IMU 120 - Built between 2001-2002 with 4 sets built IMU 160 - built between 2008-2011 with 28 sets build New Generation Rollingstock - built between 2015 - 2018 with 75 built Resources https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield_railway_line https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redcliffe_Peninsula_railway_line https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Springfield-Central-Station/Kippa-Ring-station-platform-1#r/Train/s/0
Excellent proposal and well annotated too! This route breaks up the urban/developed sections with some occasional scenic greenspace lengths of bush or grassland. Excellent idea and for the IMU 160 these can serve as the shell base for Mandurah Line Transperth B series trains. Reverse is Mandurah Line my suggestion if made being able to substitute B series on this line.
