Hi guys, I’ve attempted to buy Midland main line on PS5. I didn’t realise TSW5 Special edition was also in my cart and I’ve purchased the whole lot. Midland mainline is downloaded, not played. I cancelled the download for Special edition. How do I go about getting a partial refund and will I be able to or is it a costly mistake? Any guidance appreciated.
From the PlayStation website: You need to contact the PlayStation assistance and explain your situation in details
Yes, they are closed until Monday unfortunately. I don’t know whether I can play MML tonight, as hoping or not take the risk of opening it as could effect a refund. What a silly mistake. Been a long week.
I know you’re tempted but you canceled the download of the Special Edition so you might me eligible for a refund,
That’s what I’m hoping. I’d like to keep MML, it’s the Special edition I don’t want as have most of the routes on it already . No need for me to own special edition.
Good luck ever getting refunds from Sony, Microsoft Xbox or Nintendo. 99% of the time they point blank refuse game refunds, and DLC refunds are impossible if you have started downloading it. "I accidentally bought this DLC, but I decided to download and install it anyway." Only guaranteed place to get a refund from these days is Steam. No. As soon as you touch the download button on DLC you can forget ever getting a refund. Even if you only download 0.1% you are screwed.
Looks like a super expensive mistake then… was only half price a week or two ago. God knows when I added this to my cart.
I've found Microsoft to be alright with refunds. They refunded my Train Sim World 4 purchase very quickly, no questions asked. Never tried Nintendo though. Sony are borderline criminal with their refund policy though. Unfortunately, if the OP has started the download for the deluxe edition, they will not get a refund.
Worth emailing them though anyway - especially if you can evidence the download cancellation. Just make sure you check your basket before purchasing though in the future - it should've been markedly higher than expected for one DLC.
Technically though, it’s not DLC, or does this matter as you may have been referring to digital content as it would have been, I was rushing and didn’t notice the price. Was looking to download whilst putting kids to bed. Will ty on Monday for the refund but not much hope after reading the policies. Feel like such an idiot, money tight enough for us all.
Personally, I wouldn't wait till Monday. This site - https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/store/ps-store-refund-request/ links at cancellation policy to this site https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/legal/playstation-store-cancellation-policy/ which at the bottom links to this site https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/legal/service-cancellation-request/ (N.B. Applicable only if in the UK or EU). I would email them using the template and email address provided on that 3rd link, + a short brief factual explanation + any evidence that you think is relevant. Personally, I'd push back if they refuse the refund - generally companies do give in eventually - and it seems to me unfair really if you didn't get a refund.
I’ve e-mailed them, I’d imagine they will be able to see what has been downloaded and common sense would prevail. Won’t hold my breath though as their policy does state if downloading starts, not eligible for a refund. I’d like to think someone human could make a decision at the same time. Won’t be making that mistake again… he says.
Was SUCCESSFUL with my refund application and its processing. I think that it must have been in queue for download and hadn’t actually started downloading yet, thankfully and luckily.
