On timetable services on the Bakerloo line, there isn’t time to set the train up before departing, resulting in running late right from your first stop. As there probably isn’t any option to spawn the player in sooner to give more time to set everything up, then eliminating the need to do the first bit manually might be an answer. The control key can’t be seen from the driving position and needs an internal camera change to view. It is also a tricky two step process and cannot be done quickly. If there isn’t any wiggle room in the timetable for time to set up the train properly then having the control key in and set to operate already done when you spawn, in the same way pantographs and MCBs are in the German trains, would help the player out. You would still have to put the reverser lever in and set your destination etc, but eliminating the need to go through the tricky business of operating a control you can’t see properly would save time and give you the chance of being on time. When changing ends, the control would still need to be operated, but maybe it could be changed to a single step process rather than a two step process, as you always need to to both, and time is too tight for this fiddly process.
"option to spawn the player in sooner to give more time to set everything up," Spawn walking on foot, at the start location 5 minutes before the service starts?
Rather than moving realistic setup features, the game needs to spawn the player in a few minutes earlier before expected departure time.
That would be the ideal thing but the turnarounds may be so tight that spawning in a few minutes earlier would put you in the last part of the last service the train was doing. We are only seeing part of the timetable at present. This is an alternative workable solution.
You could possibly get around this by it spawning you on the platform about a minute before the train is due in, when there's a short turn around, so you can just jump in the cab as soon as it arrives. This should mean you would always get at least a minute to set the train up.
