I just refunded a DLC. Got a confirmation in about an hour and the DLC doesn´t show in my list of DLC. So far so good. However the files still remain in my Asset folder. Is Steam supposed to remove the assets or am I supposed to delete them myself? Searched a bit on steam but couldn't find an answer. /Måns
May I ask which DLC? If Steam fails to access the files for whatever reasons, you can lookup https://steamdb.info to see which files belong to the DLC. Ha det bra.
The vR Hbillns303. Decided to buy the 181 pack instead and that includes the Hbillns303 wagons. It's quite easy to find in the Asset folder so it's no problem for me to remove it, just wonder if it's the right way to do it. I have the Train sim files at a different location (different harddrive) than default but I did that move as described by steam so it shouldn't be a problem.
Assets/vR_Hbillns303_MP/vR_Hbillns303/vR_Hbillns303Assets.ap You can delete them. They shouldn't be working anymore anyway. Placing them in the editor, you shouldn't see the model.
Most time when you buy a bundle they are still separate items in the DLC. A bundle I purchased on April 25 2022 contained Leipzig - Riesa, Riesa - Dresden and Tehachapi Pass. Tehachapi Pass is not installed on my computer but the other two routes are.
I think Steam DRM prevents them working. I tried running something else in the Virgin Pendo folder to see what would happen and, though I may have done it wrong, I think it failed.
You can remove them manually after the refund has gone through. Steam will remove the files that enable to content to work in the sim but you may still have assets in the folders. If you know the name of the asset/folder/developer etc then just manually remove it
There are times when Steam fails to delete refunded content and sometimes the anti-piracy measures don't work. For example, when I refunded the grey BR86 because of its broken headlights the files weren't removed and the train still worked perfectly. Eventually I did rebuy the train (Bossman's texturing was just too good to say no to) but it was weird. Ultimately if the AP file is still there Steam failed to delete it, and if it's still useable Steam really failed to delete it. However, the folder remaining is normal - Steam will only delete the files it's told to.
What's odd is BOTH TSC and TSW have this flaw, which is a bit concerning as it could be abused for the wrong reasons.
Thanks for all the input. The file was not removed automatically so i deleted it manually. However I brought the 181 pack first so I could make a check that it is the same files that are included that pack.
