I have been away from TSW for a month or two, so I can't really pinpoint exactly what causes this or since when this has been happening as I skipped 2 or 3 patches. I came back to the sim a couple of days ago and I have noticed a significant degradation in the stability of TSW. I get a crash about every other run, about half the time its a crash to the crash reporter, the other half I just get a freeze that I can only get out of if I log out of windows with my user account, as the frozen game window covers task manager, so I can't kill it "normally". The crashes happen exclusively while driving, usually towards the end of a run (but not always).

Here is a crash I just had:

    Code:
LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 208] Renaming an object (Texture2D /Engine/Transient.Texture2D_2147313411) on top of an existing object (Texture2D /ATS_Crewe_Manchester/Map/Tiles/ST_x0_y17.ST_x0_y17:PersistentLevel.ATS_Info_BoardWhite_7.DynamicDisplayBoard.DisplayBoard_LayoutTexture) is not allowed

This to me looks like some issue with a PIS screen or something. This one has happened on the latest Manchester Airport Commuter route, but the crashes are not limited to this particular route.

I am using the Steam version on PC. I have not changed any of my settings since the time I came back to TSW. Now it is entirely possible that these are being caused by some mod that I use, maybe I need to update one of them, I am unsure whether it's caused by a mod or it it's a global issue, maybe something that was introduced in one of the recent patches.

I'd like to ask the community whether anyone else has been getting these issues, or that it's probably being caused by one of the mods I use and have to nuke my DLC folder and start over. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe you should remove all the mods yourself and add them one by one to see which one is causing the culprit. Also do a file verification.

Since 3 patches back, I have crashes on older TSW2 routes. Since the latest 2 patches, the crashes occur at almost the end of the drive and on longer services, before it was crashing also on shorter services and sooner.

Before the last 3 patches, I didn't have any crashes on those routes.

    This is on Xbox btw.

I'm on PC. I use a fair few mods. TSW5 almost* never crashes for me.

    * The only crash I can recall was the first time I ran Mildmay Line. Hasn't happened since.

As rennekton#1349 stated, if you do have mods, pull them out to a "disabled mods folder within the DLC folder, and check to see which of them have been updated; there have been a fair number of mods that were made for TSW4 and worked in TSW5 and now some were made "outdated" & updated or just no longer work in TSW5. This may be your issue, provided that Steam verified the files, but this, too, can be part of the problem. Game updates will break mods.

PS: I am still going through the mod reinstall process to see which is outdated or not needed here is what I have installed so far.

Thanks for the comments, folks. I got another crash today so I got to the bottom of it. I disabled 3 suspicious mods:
I have rerun the service my game has crashed on and I am happy to report that I haven't experienced a crash this time. I am suspecting the culprit was the last one as I haven't been driving in rain or snow at all.
I'd like to add, that I'm also running the latest version JetWash's Lighting enhancement mod on the high preset.

The mod authors are welcome to get in touch with me if they would like any help or input from me if they wish to improve their mods in any way.

    My PC specs:
    • GIGABYTE Z790 Gaming X AX
    • Intel i7 14700 KF
    • GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Windforce OC 16G 16GB GDDR6X
    • Kingston FURY Renegade 2x16GB 6000MHz DDR5
    • SAMSUNG 990 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD 4TB
I am running the game on the highest settings around 110% scale IIRC. My screen resolution is 3440x1440 ultrawide.
