To anyone who has played MSTS, this should sound very, very familiar. That is because, well, it's the same route, but with some more trackage after St. Anton that was not present in MSTS. (https://www.goodfon.com/wallpaper/trisannabrucke-trisanna-bridge-wiesberg-castle-tyrol-austria.html) However, even though the route would very much work in modern times, as it does, I think that it would be much better to take it back, back in time, to a more dynamic era of railroading. To the 1920s and 30s, just like we remember it from that one simulator we all played a long time ago... (http://trains-worldexpresses.com/200/205.htm) Why, you might ask? Well, the 1920s and 30s is the perfect era to feature the route in for one massive reason other than nostalgia - it was a combined operation of steam and electric power back then. Due to the problem of using steam locomotives in the 10.6 kilometers long Arlberg Tunnel, electric wires were installed in the 1920s. And so you get a pefect mix of things for everybody - you get steam operation for those who like steam locomotives, and historic electric operations for those who do not care much about steam. Besides, you'd get to drive the Someplace-Arlberg-Orient Express! Who wouldn't want to do that?? The content package would consist of Gölsdorf 380s, Gölsdorf 310s, BBÖ class 1100 "Krokodil"s, Orient Express rolling stock and some other period-correct freight and passenger wagons. Additional DLC could include: -BBÖ class 214 2-8-4 express locomotive. -K.K.St.B. class 73 0-8-0 freight locomotive, with some period correct wagons, and possibly even an additional variant of the 73 with a partial oil burning conversion installed. -BBÖ class 113 2-10-0, or a KPEV G12. -Other K.K.St.B. or BBÖ locomotives, a BBÖ 2-8-0, IDK,... In addition, since the basic layout would already be made, making a modernised version of this route set in the present day would not be as hard to make, I would imagine. With this DLC, everyone would truely get something that they would enjoy, and even more so if a follow-up is made with the same route, in the present day. You could even bundle them together for a discout! I hope you enjoyed the idea, and I really hope someone is the content team sees this. Have a very nice and productive day.
Furthermore, from a business standpoint, MSTS nostalgia would be a powerful marketing tool and customer magnet, so this would be a very good route to make.
Yes that should be a great idea for future route. I already suggested this route sometime ago and would enjoy again driving the Orient Express as it was in MSTS. I upvote your suggestion ;-)
