I’ve been playing a fair bit of Manchester to Hadfield & Glossop recently.

A suggestion I would like to make is that should DTG or any third party developers create a route with a reversing point, to not split the service into multiple parts.

One of the main issues I’m experiencing is that if you arrive into Glossop late, when the service ends and the second part begins, the AI seems to take over before you have chance to change ends which is really annoying.

Secondly it just seems like the most appropriate option.

    I second this.

Especially for depot services. I don't want to have to do one service where I move forward, then start another to reverse and go the other way.

Obviously this would be dependent on service time. I very much doubt people would be too happy driving a train for one hour one way and then the other way for another hour.

Depot services are different though. Here’s my logic:

As per real life, trains will run from Manchester Piccadilly to Hadfield via Glossop. It is all one service. Once the train arrives at Glossop, it doesn’t receive a different service identification headcode.

Depot services however, are different services. The majority of runs to / from depots are 5XXX services which then change to either a 1XXX or 2XXX service. In this case a separate service in game would be required.

Another example would be the route between Nottingham and Birmingham New Street via Derby. Whilst this hasn’t been announced and quite possibly may never exist for TSW, the principle is the same. Trains will travel the half hour journey from Nottingham before arriving into Derby, reversing and continuing the 50 minute journey to Birmingham.

I appreciate that not everyone can drive these particularly longer services in one sitting, however splitting one service into two doesn’t seem like the right way to combat this. As I said, arriving late can cause issues with the AI between one service ending and the second part starting.

Obviously this does not apply particularly for freight trains in instances such as the ECML where you will drive into a loop to allow other traffic past. I think adding multiple parts to these services actually serves a beneficiary purpose.

But it’s certainly something the community need to put their heads together to come up with an alternative solution.
