Okay so I have the B&O Mountain Sub and its retro pack and there's one problem. I don't know if anyone else encountered this issue, and I'm not really sure where it should go, but my consist was put on a 2.4% grade, and as you can see, I am literally going full throttle with the brakes all the way off and the reverser is in forward like it should be. I can't seem to get this bastard up the hill without applying the independent brakes all the way, then releasing them completely which causes my train to become superman and have the acceleration of a Bugatti Veyron. Literally, I wish I could have recorded supertrain, but my device is so horrible with performance I literally have to run all the settings as low as possible, save for the ambient lights and sunlight intensity. I know it can't be my device this time. I would try and copy the scenario and edit this unacceptable nonsense, but then the experience wouldn't be the same. Can someone please tell me what is going on here?
Also as a heads up, I forgot to mention that the rapid acceleration happens when the independent brakes are all the way on. Edit: I got it up there, but it cost me a lot of points that shouldn't have been deducted. How is this even possible?
I guess the scenario you're playing is "Austen Coal Pickup". When the scenario starts, you'll be rolling back a little, that's ok because the loco is scripted in a way that the brakes have to apply first, they're released on start. Immediately apply the Independent Brake, and put throttle to about 50%, as your speed goes positive, release the auto brakes and bail off the independent. As you gain speed reduce throttle and you should be able to climb easily. This consist has 4 engines and just a caboose, so it is powerful! When you're at Austen Spur Approach, come to a standstill. Again release the brakes, apply power and then release the retainers from front to back. And don't hurry, there's no timetable.
Actually I figured it out. I HAD THE INDEPENDENT BRAKES ON THE WHOLE FRIGGING TIME. When I switched to the independent brakes on my hud and looked at my hud, I saw that they were on bail off which usually means they're off. But before I figured it out, I actually had them applied to whole time which is why I wasn't moving. The minute I pushed the indep lever all the way to the left, it started moving. I legitimately thought I was supposed to have the indeps on full the whole time, when in reality, I DID HAVE THEM ON! So in reality, I had to release the independent brakes in order to get moving (which I kept doing, but never realized I had them on in the first place) so actually, this one was on my end again. I should have paid more attention before I complained, but I couldn't tell if it was an actual error or if it was just human error. So problem solved. Never underestimate the independent brakes. EVER!.
Yeah. It's a very well crafted loco. And a tough scenario, but rewarding. But, erm, do you play on a Pentium-III / Win98/Riva TNT?? That screenshot hurts
