Hi everyone. I was planning to ride on amtrak later this month due to school related stuff and one thing I noticed while buying tickets is that it says 1 seat remaining and the train is only 40% full. Does that mean there is only 1 seat left and I can't purchase a ticket anymore or is that only referring to reserved seats? I just find it strange that the train is 40% full, but only 1 seat remaining? Any help would be helpful since it is my first time riding Amtrak and buying tickets and all that. I have inserted a picture below.
That's probably a glitch on Amtrak's end. I regularly ride Empire Trains that sell out frequently, and even when they get over 75% full they don't say "x amount of seats remaining". It might be referring to Business Class which does have reserved seating on Regionals, same for the Crescent. You should be fine.
Possibly it means "1 seat left at this price." Amtrak sells a certain number of seats at each price point, starting cheap and getting more expensive as time goes on.
From the salesmen school book: "Create urgency" and make the customer hurry to close the deal. That´s what it looks like to me. They seemed to have learnt from the airlines.
This is good to know...I'm planning to do the bucketlist Amtrak travel throughout the US. A friend was able to do all routes throughout America, and I at least want to do one long distance one (not sure if I want to do them all). He suggested that I do the Pacific Surfliner trip first, so I may do that.
What route are you planning for yours? My fiance and I are planning on doing the Cardinal to Chicago, Empire Builder to Seattle, Coast Starlight to LA, Southwest Chief back to Chicago, then the Lake Shore back home to Albany.
