    Hi,

I wanted to ask this and hear from real players.

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/...ern_Placerville__Rico__Telluride_Route_AddOn/

As you might know, I do like my narrow gauge routes a lot Clear Creek is prety much the only American content I regularly play in TSC. So I was rather excited to see this route being released.

However, I wacthed some playthroughs and realized that there seems to be a few quite annoying bugs. For example, the injector handle seems to have a collision glitch and produces an ugly buzzing sound whenver the bug occurs (see timestamp 28:40 of the vid below for an example)

I also read people stating that the loco that comes with the route has faulty fuel consumption - that it goes on without using barely any water or coal even on high reguator settings etc.

So what I your thoughs? The route is a tad pricy and I wanted to hear more, because it sounds like some of the issues I already had with clear creek. I loved the route, but not so much the loco that came with it and I ended up using pretty much only locos from Machine Rail 3rd party producer.

If the same would be true for this route, then I would prolly pass. Because Machine Rail (nor any other developper) did not release any locos that would fit this route.

There seems to be a patch in the works now dealing with the fuel/steam/cuttoff issues.
But yes the route has a high asking price.
Machine rail has a k-37 i think on their to do list .
I have no doubt others will make stuff for this route it is a really nice route.
    But man that asking price.

Yeah that's the crux of the matter. Machine rail has a K-37 as a planned future release, however it is currently on hold and who knows when it will come out as comissioned items have priority (which makes absolute sense - please do not assume that I'm criticizing Machine Rail policy. I am not).

So the RGS route stands at 24.99£. The route itself and the terrain look great, though the buildings and town assets look a bit dated. The wagons look ok - not great, not terrible. That would be fine as long if the route would contain two functional decent locos, but that's not the case. As the route has only one loco (currently bugged and looking dated from a graphical viewpoint) and there's no 3rd party loco available for it... I think I'll pass for now and wait for a 50% discount sale.

So... just to be fully transparent and constructive. What imho would have convinced me to buy it at the current price?
I feel if the loco would be bug-free and they would add a functional galloping goose and a few more pieces of rolling stock (with least 1 coach) then it would be a decent price.

The comparison that I can draw is with the Stainmore Shap and Eden Valley route. That one costs 29.50£, but comes with 3 new functional locos (plus 2 more reskinned locos) and a huge list of rolling stock (3 types of coaches, several vans, planks, hoppers, tanks, cattle wagons, several brakevans...).

So that's my take on it so far. I hope this will be seen as constructive feedback from a narrow-gauge-interested customer, rather than "developper bashing".

    NOTE:
I still want to hear more opinions from people who like narrow gauge routes (and played Clear Creek etc) or those who already bought the Rio Grande Souther route and want to share their experiences they had with it so far.

This route caught my eye last night when loading up TSC for a play. On paper it should be a Day One purchase, certainly compared to the bland puddings being served up in TSW, but glad now I read the above. Maybe one for a 50% off sale and/or some meaningful bug fixes. I quite enjoyed Clear Creek though never did get the hang of the oil fired locos.

Yeah, I think it will be a great route to play once there is some decent 3rd party engines for it.

I recommend it. It's a beautiful and scenic route. Concerning the loco, I don't know much about these in RL, but Milepost have offered a patch on their facebook page before the Steam patch is out, addressing the cutoff issue. (See Live Article Discussion thread).

It's a shame there wasn't any more locos added beside the K-27. A handful of RGS locos still exits such as...

    RGS #20, T-19
    Co462.jpg

    RSG #41, C-19
    1200px-Calico_&_Ghost_Town_Railroad.jpg

    RSG #42, C-17
    RGS_42.jpg

    C&S #74
    RGS+74+a+2-8-0+w+caboose+scene.jpg

And adding a some of the Galloping Geese would of added express and passenger services to the line.

    Yeah exactly!

Heck, maybe some content creators will read these threads and see that there'd be a healthy demand for these among players.

Ardaeshir, I would not buy it if I were you. You would exhaust yourself rivet counting it and complaining about the price.

    A shame?

This would mean Milepost shouldn't have released it because they "only" were able to model one loco?

This is an extreme case of the "half-filled" vs "half-empty" glass mindset.

With how little good US content gets release these days, it would be nice to get a bit more bang for our buck. Just hope someone decent can give us at least the Geese. At least Machine Rail has a K-37 planned, not exactly accurate as the RGS never leased the K-37s, but still better than nothing.

They still ran on RGS, albeit not often. Here's 488 at Dallas Divide between Placerville and Ridgeway[IMG]

Wouldn't mind it, regardless if it comes from Milepost or another 3rd party content provider. I've seen a lot of that sort of coordination and synergy between British content creators: GA releases a southern dorset route, Caledonia works releases an N1, then shortly after Matrix trains releases an LSWR coaches pack.

Again: I know narrow-gauge is a much more niche thing and content creators need to focus on things that will bring profit.

Well, unless one happens to be Bill Gates, one needs to watch their budget and decide wher eyou will get the most fun for your buck. With TSC the good part is that there's a lot of things to choose from. Price comparisons are unaviodable.

At least TSC is getting some US narrow gauge. NG of any description, well apart from one slightly flawed Swiss metre gauge route, seems anathema over in TSW land.

I guess at a pinch you could sub in the locos off Clear Creek on this route.
