You were probably thinking of the West Highland Line between Glasgow and Fort William/Mallaig and Oban
Yea, rivet is based in Stirling. It does feel a bit Scottish with all the hills but it's actually in Cornwall, Mainly Penzance.
if they were porting the North West from TSC then it actually goes to several different towns. Helensburgh, Alexandria, Dumbarton and Clydebank are all towns. the TSC route stops at Bellgrove but the line actually continues to Edinburgh.
Suburban Glasgow wasn't really made by Rivet, rather a 3rd party freeware route that was improved upon with some new station models that were built by Rivet then repackaged and published as payware. Also you cannot 'port' routes from TSC to TSW, they would have to be made mostly from scratch again as the game engines are vastly different. Only minor things like some scenery assets can be converted across but otherwise it doesn't save much time and serves no real benefit other than already having potential reference material to work from.
By ported (or atleast by what I ment) I more ment in the aspect of routes with pre existing licenses from tsc and sounds to some extent.
TBH, that's very commuter and stopping like cathcart. We should get something longer distance with better trains and better quality
This may just be me but I feel like commuter routes have a LOT more replayabilty then longer, less stopping routes. A lot of people complain about Kassal-Wurzburg for its almost idle feeling.
A good route would really have both, for example, the WCML South has the faster Avanti services but also the slower commuter trains
Ik, but maybe something high speed like Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk would be better for a change instead of the imediet stop circle route
I forgot about Oakville, but your big freight routes e.g. Sherman Hill, Cane Creek, Horseshoe Curve etc
To be honest I'm surprised dtg do a lot of freight, Id think people wouldn't enjoy freight for the slow, painful operations but I must be wrong haha.
You must be, I agree with you, I don't like the American freight compared to let's say British passenger
Highly likely to see EMUs on Rivets new route as it is a modern AC electric route according to the coding. Any DMUs would be dlc I am strongly guessing. When it comes to new types, it would be fantastic if we were to see more new loco DLCs as there are many missed opportunities so far.
If it were Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh and/or Stirling/Alloa, then presumably a Class 385 would feature. If Rivet were to include a second train type, then it could be either the Class 66 for freight to Grangemouth (preferably in a different livery), or the Scotrail HST in the Inter7City livery for express services to Inverness/Aberdeen.
Oh yes, all three are welcomed by me, one passes me every day, another are ScotRail's newest electric toys and the other has a garden shed front lol
I was actually just thinking about the highland line, a 100+ mile route either between Perth and Inverness or the whole Inverness - Edinburgh and Glasgow - Unlikely but would be an amazing route with the rolling stock options.
It'll be unlikely because of the route length, I think the longest Rivet would go is Perth from Edinburgh/Glasgow, the rolling stock is only 158s, 170s and HSTs with a 66 for freight, that's it, maybe DTG can make it in the future, but it'll take a lot of time though
Realistically rivet will likely make a 20-70 mile long route using there other routes as an general average. Glasgow commuter or Edinburgh to Glasgow are my guesses.
Yep, that's probably what they are doing if it is a Scottish route, who knows, it could be somewhere in England and Rivet are throwing us off with the Scottish stuff, we'll know more when they announce it, whenever they decide to
Absolutely. I don’t want another Glasgow only route. Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Central would be amazing. Nice scenery along the way. Fields, Sheep’s, Cows, trees and Electric Pylons lol.
I mean... Why do people buy routes with the exact same trains as others? You could make the same argument for bml and ecw or the many German routes that have similar rolling stock. Its for the different scenery and stations, a commuter Glasgow network would be far different as the ccl.
Add some hills in and thats my dream route. Still though, most electric routes already made have a little countryside and some cityscapes. We could do with a bit better scenary and train variety
To be fair, the rural scenery in the majority of WCL was absolutely rubbish, so they clearly have some work to do next time around!
Do either Armstrong powerhouse or Thomson interactive work with tsw? It begs the question because I feel like Thomson did a lot of decent Scottish trains and ap is well, realistic sounds.
Not to mention Thomson actually being the developer of the tsc Edinburgh to Glasgow.. now obviously any developer can make any route with licensing but it does to some extent seem to be atleast regional routes by the same developer. (Dtg being either northern America, or northern Europe, rivet being Swiss and Scottish, Union being East Asia etc etc
Thompson Interactive didn't join, you are thinking of the wrong Alan Thomson Alan Thomson Simulation was who joined AP have supplied sounds to the 66, 314, 375, 377, 387, 465 so have been onboard for a while
Ats??? I always thought it was just a 3rd party store for tsc content. Good to hear ap is around however : D
Glasgow Airport Rail Link, it was a proposed route from Glasgow Central to Glasgow Airport which never came to fruition but Thompson Interactive made a replica of what the route would have been for TSC
ATS joined the Partner Programme around October's Roadmap and hope King's Lynn to King's Cross comes to TSW, very high quality route
Oh yeah the ats payware is ats made completely. Kc-kl, Cambridge- Peterborough and chat moss could be possible
Personally I'd love chat moss. Would be a modern northern PLUS it has a hiatchi that could be used for reskins. Also Class 185 could exist.
