To Dovetail Games, To start off I just wanted to congratulate you on the immense success you have on “Train Sim World 4” and “Train Simulator Classic” respectively. What you have done for both of these games is truly amazing and the community cannot thank you enough. However, I would like to bring some game ideas to your attention for possible external content for Train Sim World 4, new premise. My first idea is to bring South Devon’s “Riviera Line” to Train Sim World 4. This lovely Route has already been imported to Train Simulator Classic but now it is 8 years old and starting to feel dated. Train Sim World 4 has amazing graphics as compared to older models of Train Simulator 16. The route can start from anywhere from Exmouth to Exeter St David’s, and can stretch all the way to Paignton. The statistics are that the Dawlish stretch has been one of the most painted routes in the whole of the UK So seeing it in TSW4 would be an amazing opportunity to have. Originally, I had thought to use the Class 150, 156, 166, 43, or the 800 due to them all working on this stretch of the line and all being ran by GWR but the fact of the matter is, they are already in the game! So there are two possible ways you can take this route. The first choice is to have the Cross-country Class 220. This DMU is filling in a gap I believe TSW4 has had for a while. The border between DMU stopper trains AND high-speed services. The second and my personal favourite, is have the Riviera in the 50’s. (Sound familiar?) The opportunities for the engines that can be added are tremendous. You can add 14xx’s King classes, castle classes, grange class, manor class even a pannier tank! The possibilities are endless. Now each way you can take for this route are both evenly as good, expanding Train Sim World 4’s route collection and train collection. My second idea is kind of just bringing an idea that has already been thought of ( By Youtuber LaZeR Jet) who I know you are familiar with, I am just bringing it to your attention. This idea Is for Train Sim World Online. This idea is simple, log in to TSW4 on your account, join your friends, server maybe on the West Somerset Railway, and drive trains either together or drive different trains on the same map. Now it will be an undertaking, making a new code in the game to support multiplayer compatibility, but I believe the benefit will outweigh the costs and work needed. I t can bring an entire new audience to the game. So, there are my two ideas I am bringing towards to you. For the Train Sim World Online idea, I take no credit and therefore do not need any credit. For the Riviera Route I do hope you consider the idea I have brought forwards to you. Yours Faithfully, Ruben Mortimore
I think this route is inevitable. It's a favourite in TSC with so many different remakes/upgrades and it's a lovely route up to Exeter. I think it's more likely to be an Intercity/Provinical era (late 80s/early 90s) if we get it unless DTG can get another licence with GWR.
I vote for this as well. Really enjoy the TSC versions and has a nice variety of stock as well as beautiful scenery.
With current GWR and Cross Country licensing a no, no, would have to be set pre Privatisation, which wouldn’t be a bad thing. The ideal route for a BR Blue classic experience in the early 70’s when the diesel hydraulics still predominated on internal WR services.
+1 for this, set in the 80s/90s period. Class 50 is my favourite diesel loco so that would be a must and make it a day 1 purchase. Add in the HST, DMUs, Class 47s etc... even the Skipper liveried Pacer.
Hi all, Cheers for all the comments and likes really means a lot I hadn't thought of a 80s/90s kind of version of the line but i think it would definitely fall into dovetails era that they are specialising in with plenty of routes from that era. Again thanks for all the support and lets hope dovetail takes this into consideration Ruben
The ultimate rendition of this route would be a TSW remake of the "Riviera in the Fifties" from TSC with all things GWR steam Sadly with steam off the menu, that's not going to happen until DTG come back to their senses and start making steam era content again. In light of that, I'd go with a 70's BR era with a focus on the Western region's Diesel-Hydraulic locomotives.
Yes please to classes 35, 42 and 43. If set in the 1950s or 1960s you could also include classes 22 and 41. I don't know if class 14 ever worked in the Devon area but another possibility I guess.
I would love to se this route in TSW. I grew up in Newton Abbot and in the eighties travelled to Exeter by train every day. So for me, I‘d like to see it around that time with a Valenta HST and a class 50 added.
Would love this route from Exmouth instead of the TSC route which only starts at Exeter St David’s maybe the could add Totnes Ivybridge and Plymouth too. Hopefully they do this route and they use pacers with the yellow 2 leaf doors and have improved 150s with the guards panels working at the staff door and in the coach the box on the wall is the control pannel. Could use 153s too.
Having an era-appropriate route to run the Diesel legends of the Great Western stock on would be welcome, and the Riviera line would be very ideal for this. The Class 31, 40, 45, and 47 could all layer on realistically too, I believe.
Class 156 ain't in the game yet sadly. 158 would need re liveried. So would 150. 800 variation of the 801 isn't in the game ethier. Don't mean to be a wee teacher and mark it etc. I really do like this suggestion though! Nice work!
The Class 156 rarely worked in the West of England. During the early Regional Railways the infamous 155’s covered the long distance Provincial services from Avon and South Wales into the West Country. Although Canton received a temporary allocation of Class 156’s when the Class 155’s were withdrawn due to the serious door open in traffic incidents, these were largely confined to the northern part of the Western Provincial services. If a 155 wasn’t available of failed on a WOE working, more likely to be subbed by a 150/2 “borrowed” from Cardiff Valleys or a Class 108. Though a couple of times I upset the Bristol evening commuters by allocating a single Class 121 bubble car on the 1735 Bristol to Exeter. Tickets please!
Bumping this. 1980s. Class 50 and Valenta IC HST (I'll pay for one as an extra as per 390 WCML S). Layer in the 47, 45, 31, 33, 20, 101 and 142. Bonkers it's not been done yet.
