Thought I'd post this separately as I imagine the discussion comments were getting a bit discouraging to read through. Don't normally post on the forums, but it seems DTG could do with a bit of support from the silent majority who appreciate the change to being a more open company and getting a deeper insight into the development process. New roadmap looks pretty sensible to me, though a few tweaks could make it slightly better: Make the photo headers smaller so you can see more of it at once A new "suspended"/"wishlist"/etc. section for livery designer and scenario planner so we know they're still on the cards, but not actively being worked on (so we shouldn't expect any progress on them) Further to this, I think two new sources of information would complement the roadmap considerably: More detail on the preservation crew - you mentioned you have an internal table of which features are being added to which routes so maybe include a modified version of this? Ideally I'd like to see at a glance what features a preservation route has, and what features are in development. Eg. Rapid Transit already has had a preservation update but is still on there - which features have already been added and which are yet to be added? A list of bugs which are currently under investigation, being fixed or being tested I think these two points should not be on the roadmap, but on stickied forums posts which are kept up to date as and when bugs/preservation features move from one stage to the next. I mainly use the roadmap for its original intended purpose: what the preservation crew progress is. New route announcements work better as articles as that allows for more description (and gets more attention than just being added to the bottom of a list). Bug tracking should be on a constantly updating page, not something that updates every 2 weeks (as was discovered when they were removed from the roadmap). Creators club being made free definitely feels like community feedback being listened to (though I don't mind myself as I just use the livery manager mod). Same for the feedback on the ability to use real life liveries. It just seems a shame all the feedback is negative rather than positive for changes that have been listened to. With regards to how early things appear on the roadmap, it seems this is a lose-lose situation with these forums - they want to find out about it as soon as possible and also get it as soon as possible after announcement (which are mutually exclusive). Personally I don't mind how long things take to come out - in fact the longer the better usually as it means it's not being rushed. Things should be announced as soon as they are being worked on, even if they stay unreleased for a while (like the 313). Things which are subsequently removed from the roadmap like the scenario planner and livery designer 2.0 are fine as long as reasons are given - better that way so that we know those requested features were being worked on, rather than the whole thing being under wraps until it's ready for release. To strike the balance between early information and not overpromising, I would recommend: Routes go on the roadmap as soon as it is confirmed where the route is (ie. 'Cornwall Route') - assuming the route is past the point of potentially not happening. They are then updated with more information only when that is confirmed to make it into the final release (which trains, which branchlines included etc.) Features go on the roadmap in a longer term section as soon as they're seriously being worked on. However if they stop being worked on, but are still on the future cards, they go into a "wishlist"/"suspended/etc. section (eg. scenario planner 2). That way they can be seen earlier without people assuming they're certain yet. Hope that's useful - definitely an improvement from the previous version which tended to give false expectations of progression through the sections, despite the disclaimers. Keeping the format evolving to be most useful is certainly the right direction in any case. P.S. shame the scenario planner has been suspended for now - I hope that was because it was trying to be a significant step up from the current one, but the game isn't really ready for it yet, so it was decided to hold it off until it's more feasible, than to rush it through buggy and descoped.
