A Romanian icon the EA-692 is now available for Train Simulator Classic on the Steam Store Read More : Romanian Icon Arrives (dovetailgames.com)
Mulțumesc! Looks interesting - but as said, where's the carriages? May we get a romanian route soon? I'll put it on the wishlist and wait for a route to put it to use.
Plenty of Romanian freight wagons available: https://railstudios.com/dtg-train-simulator/freight-cars/ and in their catalog they have electric, diesel and steam locos, passenger cars and routes. What more is needed? Not cheap mind. A small point - Romanian electrics are 25kV 50 hz not 15kV 16,67Hz. A small number of the Romanian 060 DA diesels ran in Germany on open access freight trains back in the late 1990s until enough ex DR/DB locos became available.
Indeed, here's their freeware packs. Thanks very much John! Curious now if there'll be a romanian route on Steam with nicely bundled assets. Having traveled it in ETS2's ProMods, it's such a nice country.
What is the point of releasing this loco when there are no routes or scenarios? I will not buy it until there are routes and scenarios for it.
I'll begin positive and say it's a good start. Might be gauging how well it goes before committing further. Might even be a bait as you say, to check out some routes for it. I think I've seen these a lot in Hungary, with private operators (and their paint schemes). I don't know how far ÖBB trains go as a unit, but with so many Austrian consists crossing Budapest, you can pretend you're somewhat halfway and use it with RSSLO stuff. Not too different from hauling UTO tanks and QD Worldwide + RS Transco containers.
Not sure what all of the fuss is about. Its Quick Drive compatible. Get one and run it on the Chatham Dover run of course. Why do you think they gave it away free!
Isn't it rather unprototypically clean? It's suitable for a top link passenger train, but too clean for the freight train consists suggested above.
Good question, because nowadays most engines passing by my window are pristine. Eventually, of course, some rust starts to build, and minor weathering. The question is very similar to whether the clean Kuju UP SD40-2 is "new" or else. Practically, most companies desire to have a pristine image - back in the day arcade racing games didn't have crash visuals specifically at the bequest of manufacturers. (Using the expression wrong? I mean, manufacturers forbade such visuals. See also: KITT the unbreakable, and TSC without derail physics.) Of course a couple liveries could be welcome. (Does anyone use the rusty steamers from Kuju / WLoS?)
I splashed out on one of the routes on RailStudio website : Baragan Mega Route - 192km for £20 (about £21 with Tax and payment charge), a load of free assets included. Downloaded a load of freeware. They use a slightly different installation to most there is a long delay with a Dos cmd.exe screen (presumably to get the ducks aligned) before the wizard appears then it is quick (just beware it hasn't hung up/frozen just be patient it is worth waiting for). The Baragan route is approx 100kms dual track electrified mainline then approx 30 kms dual track secondary (with the Faurei test track not counted in the 30kms but in the route) and another approx 30kms single track diesel line from Faurei. The sidings are partially populated with scenic wagons and coaches including a derailment (see pic). Worth every penny now to get some more freeware locos and stock. There are free scenarios included (4) and more available on the website, 4 in a package plus a singleton.
£14.99 is on the expensive side for a single loco with no stock or scenarios. Will wishlist for now, watch the reviews and maybe pick up at 50% off when there's a sale.
Maybe they'll be putting some of their routes on Steam, to spare users from asset hunting. This could be an indicator of more to come. The Romanian Asset Pack could be declared a shared depot without problems, as everything is in a single provider folder and not cluttered.
I mean you might have issues with it being an OHLE loco and the Chatham route being 3rd rail - but it will run on the route just not on quick drive sadly
It would appear so, all the photos I have seen and all of the models in TSC have some to one extent or another some have the cab almost Romany caravan style. Adds to the "atmosphere".
And we have sun. Even Stadler-Siemens drivers complain regularly about the sunblinds failing. I also agree about cosiness.
I notice that no TSC stock for Romania (that I have found so far) has dynamic numbering. Its not a problem in itself I now have 54 different numbered diesel locos of mainly 060DA type with a few others all in their individual files and I only started last Thursday! Wagons even more so all individually numbered. This must be because Romania (as all UIC countries should but most don't ) use the full UIC number which would make dynamic numbering very very cumbersome. I inform you all as I wouldn't want anyone to be overwhelmed
Someone on another thread (sorry I lost it so posting here) that they could only haul 1 wagon using the Romanian LDH18 shunter and asking if that were normal. I would rate the LDH18 as about a German Kof II (BR 323) so should be able to haul at least 3. Tried it out and the LDH18 easily hauled 3 loaded EACS bogie Gondola wagons with scrap load at its full speed of 40km/h but you have to use the gearbox and accelerate (like a car) up through the gears (that's why they are there). multă baftă
The Bosnian (ex-Yugoslav) version of these were used in Turkey so might be usable on the Turkish route?
