A perfect addition for Train Sim World 6 would be a focused Romanian locomotive pack featuring some of the most iconic electric engines ever to run under CFR. These machines shaped decades of traffic across the Carpathians and still define the look and sound of Romanian rail. CFR Class 40 The freight-dedicated powerhouse, known for its rugged reliability, heavy traction motors, and the unmistakable whine of its converters. Often seen hauling long mineral trains across steep gradients. CFR Class 41 The passenger-optimized variant, capable of smoother acceleration and higher speeds. This class is the backbone of intercity and regio-express services, instantly recognizable by its classic blue-white CFR liveries. CFR Class 42 A later modernization with upgraded equipment, improved electronics, and distinctive cab changes. Used for both mixed traffic, these locomotives bring a more refined yet still classic Romanian feel. ICOL (Original Classic Locomotives) The earliest production variants — the truly “classic” versions — featuring the raw, unrefined charm of the original Electroputere builds. Their older traction gear and vintage cab layout create a nostalgic, mechanical driving experience. A dedicated locomotive pack with these four variants would give Train Sim World 6 a uniquely Romanian identity while preserving the authentic character, sounds, and performance differences that railfans know by heart.
True, but these locomotives are iconic enough to justify a standalone pack first. A route can come after — and Romania has plenty of strong candidates. Even a short section like București Nord – Ploiești Sud, Brașov – Predeal, or Iași – Pașcani would fit them perfectly. But the main idea here is to bring the CFR Class 40/41/42 and the ICOL variants into the game, since they’re the real stars of Romanian railroading.
Needs to be a complete package including a route. Yes there was a standalone Romanian loco released for TSC but the difference there is it's far easier for players to set up a run using the editors.
Anywhere once a Romanian route is added — the point of the suggestion is the locomotives themselves. Later, they can be paired with a fitting route such as București – Ploiești, Brașov – Predeal, or Iași – Pașcani. For now, the focus is bringing the CFR Class 40/41/42 and the ICOL classics into TSW6.
Yes but you’re not going to sell a loco without a route, certainly not in the numbers required to return a profit on the development time and cost. A few dozen “curiosity” sales does not tick the “LAMPOIL” criteria for DTG.
Romania used to have quite vivid number of developers for Trainz. Some expanded into TSC. Will they expand again into TSW? Question: how much does Romania differ from Poland or Hungary when it comes to trains and routes? They look more or less alike to me. Landscape wise, Poland and Romania have sizeable mountain ranges, allowing for something different from flatland plains?
That’s true for most cases, but the point here is to highlight how strong and iconic these locomotives are. Once DTG sees that there is interest, a Romanian route becomes the natural next step. The CFR Class 40/41/42 and the ICOL units are the foundation — they’re the equivalent of the BR classics for the UK or the DB standard locos for Germany. If a route is needed for profit, then great — these machines would anchor that route and give it a clear identity.
Looking at this who made them if so we got a Romanian toaster locomotive considering the electrical system would be identical to nec Trenton Boston aem7
?? No such route exists. The real world NEC stretches from Boston to Baltimore (way past Trenton), and in-game we only have NY-Trenton and Boston-Providence (with NY-Stamford on the route map) neither of which feature the AEM-7 - even the NEC NY-New Rochelle route from the original TSW way back in 2018 was after the AEM7 had been retired in the real world.
