It could be that the train is speed limited meaning you can't go above it's max operational speed.

If you go thru a neutral section you need to close the MCB again. Same if you use too much power too soon and trip the MCB.

Are you using the tap changer on the 111 correctly? You either need to tap it from Hold to Run Up quickly to advance the position one notch at a time or leave it in run up then pull back to Hold when the desired position is reached. Alternatively you can go through the Run Up function to the “normal” % power based use of the throttle.

The 111 is fairly slow off the mark, i.e. prototypical, but I had mine up to 140 km/h no problem at all.

Don’t forget to release the loco brake in addition to the train brake. as the runs I’ve started all have it applied when you first drop in the cab.

Hate to say this but it does sound like user error.

What would be really helpful on a query like this is a video demonstrating the issue - that way it can be really quick to either acknowledge an issue and get it raised, or provide some guidance on how to better operate the locomotive.

Being an older locomotive, the BR111 does require some more specific handling compared to modern ones which you can basically throw around and they figure it out.

If you use the Dostos cabcar, in the left panel you will find the traction override switch. This should work for you. I noticed this switch is open by default. However, You still have to be gentle when applying power with this old glory!

Hello, driving the Dostos cabcar for the first time on this route and I've had the issue of power loss as well. It seems to be way more frequent than when actually driving the BR111. I understand with these older locomotives (well the one pushing my train in this case) you have to take it easy moving through the power steps but in some cases, it seems like I'm just cruising along and I lose power.

What is the proper procedure to bring the power back? I've had success doing so by repeatedly open and closing the circuit breaker, and also turning the train line power off and on. I'm sure I'm not doing it properly as it doesn't always work, does the reverser need to be in neutral? Power lever at 0? Just trying to make sure I have the proper sequence of actions to restore power when this happens as I couldn't find a manual for the route.

    Thanks for any help.

If you're not getting any power, reduce your throttle to zero and then watch the number under the "kN" label on the right analogue display (in the dosto this is) - wait for that to count down to zero and THEN apply some power.

If that doesnt yield any power, it may be you've gone over a neutral section and need to reset the breaker - throttle to zero, wait for counter to get to 0, then reset mcb, then gradually re-apply power.

Remember, if you're going at speed, you won't see any force being applied at lower power settings - so just gently increase until you confirm force being applied.

    Matt.

This question might be better of here:

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/forums/troubleshooting.80/

Also consider reading this post to provide a Minimal Reproducible Example (or at least a screenshot):

BTW: If all of the above didn't work, my guess is that you kind of handle the locos incorrectly and because you brake and apply power at the same time, the train forces a tracktion lock.

You can assure this if you look if the gear square is red in standard HUD, or the red tracktion lock symbol is showing up in the Minimal HUD.

Thanks guys, I didn't post in the troubleshooting section as I expect it's an issue with me rather than the sim :)

I'll take note of both suggestions and see if that helps me out.

    Thanks again.
